Civil servants, especially young people, need to be given maximum exposure and training in critical areas such as artificial intelligence and energy transition to strengthen their competence, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said on Friday (Jan 3).

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said the approach would not only ensure that young people understood the aspirations of Madani Government, but would also equip them with relevant training to face current challenges.

00:00I have said that the space to give training and opportunities to public officials
00:08should be fully given to young people,
00:11in terms of intelligence, AI, digital, energy transition.
00:18Because I want, in a few years' time,
00:21our efforts to overcome the efforts of consultants.
00:26What is lacking in public officials?
00:30Training, discipline, and strength.
00:33The strength of public officials is different from the theoretical framework.
00:38Discuss and evaluate on paper.
00:41The strength of public officials,
00:44both in the field of teaching,
00:46and administration,
00:48is more than anything else.
00:50Because public officials are faced with problems
00:54and practical practices every day.
00:59And because of that, there is more strength.
01:04And if additional training is given,
01:08and I have asked for additional Rp 100 million, Rp 200 million,
01:13only to give intensive training,
01:16not necessarily an academic degree,
01:20either in the country or abroad,
01:24in the private sector, or in high-paying centers,
01:27or in the centers of excellence.
01:32I want to start this year,
01:35among the young public officials,
01:38to give maximum exposure,
01:41so that in a year or two, we will be able to give birth
01:44to the second line of public officials,
01:47who are not only able to fully fulfill the needs of the public,
01:53but also have more rigorous training.
01:56And I want this training to cover all levels.
01:59I want to go to the technical and agricultural level,
02:04the low technical level,
02:05so that everyone is given a better opportunity.
02:09Therefore, I want public officials,
02:13and public services in this country
02:16to be an example of the best services
02:21in developing countries,
02:23especially in Islamic countries.
02:25And this is the beginning.
02:29Wherever I study,
02:31I think in Peru recently,
02:34I told Transia Azzam,
02:36the president of Peru said he wanted to see
02:39and work together,
02:40increase cooperation with the SPRM.
02:44Because he saw,
02:46so strong and great,
02:48and brave,
02:49some actions were taken.
02:51In some other countries,
02:53in Egypt,
02:55the request from the president,
02:58so that the relationship and cooperation with public services,
03:02that was increased,
03:03because he followed the development
03:05and saw the way and the method of training in our country.
03:11This is not my service.
03:14This is not because I happen to be a minister.
03:17This is because of tradition and heritage,
03:20and our role now is to give a little more surprise and excitement,
03:26so that this spirit is increased.
03:28So, ladies and gentlemen,
03:31I ask that at the beginning of this month,
03:36at least,
03:37give a little space,
03:39in all offices,
03:42schools,
03:43institutes,
03:46with a more detailed discussion,
03:49how can we increase our service.
