Anwar: Embracing new tech like AI starts with me

There is no need to fear new technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI), as it will not dehumanise users if they keep to their values, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said that while officiating the "AI for Rakyat" programme at Universiti Putra Malaysia on Tuesday (Jan 16), adding that such a programme by the government for the masses is important to address the digital divide and elitism among the people and ensure no one is left behind.

Anwar also called on the various ministries and agencies to ensure that students at all schools and tertiary institutions complete the "AI for Rakyat" four-hour module within a month.

01:11 He said, "There is this fear that synthetic humans will take over human beings and our
01:16 values, but if those who teach digital subjects such as professors impart values in the teaching
01:21 of AI skills, then the values will remain."
01:25 "When we introduced computers in the past, we said that the firewalls were not necessarily

01:34 Firewalls are through education in the family and in the education system.
01:42 So, the foundation of defense, faith, and mentality must be deep through our education system

01:56 In this field, even though we talk about energy transition, digital transformation, and AI,
