00:08South Korean police officers arrived in force at the country's presidential residence in
00:14the early hours of Friday morning to detain suspended leader Yun Suk-yo, who was removed
00:20for suddenly enacting martial law last month.
00:35But police faced a tough task in even getting to Yun, with supporters of the impeached president
00:41vowing to block the arrest as they surround the presidential compound.
01:03Yun's lawyer has also called the arrest attempt unlawful, saying they will challenge any attempt
01:10to bring the president in.
01:16And beyond the protesters, two more obstacles complicated efforts to detain Yun, a military
01:23unit tasked with protecting the presidential residence and Yun's personal security detail.
01:30Local media reported that police successfully negotiated with the military and made it to
01:35Yun's door, but corruption officials deemed the arrest impossible and called off the
01:41effort, marking more turmoil in an increasingly unstable government.
