00:00We were making a Hindi song last night.
00:02Really? For a film?
00:04No, no, no, no, no.
00:05See, I am a little far from films.
00:10Just because I just don't want to sell my music.
00:12Right?
00:13Let anyone do whatever they want to do.
00:15I am an example.
00:16The new artists who are coming,
00:17as long as the business is not good,
00:19I won't do songs in movies.
00:21But on a business perspective,
00:23it's good for marketing.
00:25It's good for this.
00:26Because of course, the budgets are higher.
00:28They're going to push you so much better.
00:30Your listeners are going to go up.
00:31Streams are going to go up.
00:33I don't want to leave that as a legacy.
00:35That I could have brought a change,
00:39but I didn't.
00:40You have a vision for your career,
00:43and you want to stick to that vision.
00:46And a part of that is,
00:47at this phase, you may not work with films.
00:49Yeah.
00:50I mean, it was hard to say no to some people.
00:53And it's not even their fault.
00:55It's just how this whole s*** works.
00:58As an artist, you're looking at an end vision.
01:01It just doesn't fit into that.
01:02Yeah.
01:03That's what it is.
01:04Being a sellout.
01:05It doesn't fit.
01:06The 10 people who are doing more,
01:08I should also start doing that.
01:09So, the ones who are coming after me,
01:12what example can I give them?
01:14Like, I got that movie.
01:16They gave me a budget.
01:18And they said,
01:19you're going to be in the movie too.
01:20You're going to do this too.
01:22We're going to push the s*** out of it.
01:24We're going to, you know,
01:26that they're doing everything for you.
01:29And when that song of yours grows,
01:33for example, if you've worked on a movie
01:35and your song grows,
01:37your whole catalogue is going to grow.
01:38So, business point of view,
01:39that makes total sense.
01:41But as an artist who's like
01:44on the forefront of change,
01:45like, you know,
01:46if you're going to bring change,
01:48then no.
01:49So, then, you know,
01:52sometimes you gotta eat less to bring change.
01:54That's all it is.
01:55I was offered movies, like,
01:56even to be in movies
01:58or to do records, like,
02:00two years ago.
02:01I've been saying no for the last two years
02:03and burning my bridges.
02:06From one to the other,
02:08from the third to the fourth.
02:09Just because, like,
02:10I just don't want to be other sheep.
02:12You're not the flavor of the season.
02:14No.
02:15You can say that.
02:16You're the whole s***.
02:18At one time,
02:19Top 10,
02:20out of which eight songs were Punjabi.
02:22For example, mine too.
02:24Right?
02:26Now, that's the example itself.
02:28You don't need anybody to,
02:30or that promotional push
02:32or this and that.
02:33You can stay true to your art.
02:35I'm not saying working with the film
02:37is a bad idea or something.
02:38Like, man, like,
02:40it's a great opportunity.
02:42And if you can add your art
02:45to another director's art,
02:47it's a great idea.
02:49But, like,
02:51the director
02:52or the actor,
02:55they're getting paid.
02:56But the business side is,
02:59someone else is taking care of it.
03:01You know, what they want is,
03:02sometimes it doesn't fit with you.
