00:05in Yorkshire.
00:06All featuring today's Business Briefing, brought to you by Shawbrooke.
00:09Good morning, Alex.
00:11Good morning, Adam. Are you okay?
00:15I'm very well, thank you. Are you?
00:18Good. Yeah, really good.
00:19Good. I'll kick us off today with a significant story for an accountancy firm, Bishop Fleming,
00:24which currently has offices spanning from Worcester in the West Midlands to Truro in
00:28the South West.
00:29We'll actually be adding Birmingham to its footprint from this month.
00:33The new Birmingham office, which is to be based in the Colmore Business District, will
00:37be announced in the coming weeks, but it's set to be the firm's ninth office and one
00:43of its largest.
00:44The firm's Birmingham plans are part of its Better Growth business strategy, which is
00:48designed to sort of double the size of the business organically.
00:52Now the company actually plans to add several hundred people to its headcount over the next
00:56few years, and I know Birmingham is a big part of this.
01:00Yeah, really good news for Birmingham and its talent pool.
01:02Certainly.
01:03Well, from an accountancy firm to a law firm, Clyde & Co, which, as you know, has offices
01:08across the UK and internationally, has merged with Dallas company Tillman Batchelor.
01:13So the move aims to support the expansion of its North American and international insurance
01:18practice.
01:19Tillman Batchelor specialises in the defence of first party and bad faith insurance litigation.
01:25They also provide advice and consultation.
01:29So as a result of the deal, Mark Tillman and Colin Batchelor from the firm have joined
01:33Clyde & Co's Dallas office.
01:35Their team of six people have also moved over.
01:38Now Carolina Gordon, who's Clyde & Co's senior partner, said the merger further reinforces
01:42its position as the leader in insurance coverage litigation.
01:47And we're moving on to a different note now, entering the world of property.
01:51Vistri Group and Miller Homes have acquired a site in Huddersfield, which has outline
01:55planning permission for 700 properties.
01:57The site, which is 3.5 kilometres southwest of the town centre, is located on a former
02:02industrial area and agricultural land.
02:05Now Vistri will build 469 mixed-tenure homes, including 50% affordable or private rented
02:10housing, with Miller Homes building 231 for the private market.
02:15The development will also include a care home and a convenience store, with the plans also
02:21providing a total of £1.3 million towards local schools and £900k towards local highways
02:27and sustainable transport improvements.
02:29Excellent.
02:30We're seeing a lot of these big schemes, aren't we, on former industrial sites coming forward?
02:33Definitely.
02:34It's becoming more common.
02:35Yeah.
02:36Well, to finish off, storage firm Storage Giant has revealed plans to expand into North
02:42Wales and the North West following its best ever year.
02:45So the business is actually headquartered in Newport, and in its last financial year
02:50they secured more than 6,000 additional customers.
02:53So obviously they've seen lots of growth, and they now want to expand that even further,
02:57and they're actively targeting sites in the North West and further afield.
03:02So a further eight sites are in the pipeline development, and they're set to complete in
03:07the next three years.
03:08There's also plans in place for bases in Kidderminster, Whitney and Willinghall.
03:12So yeah, really good news for them.
03:14Great.
03:15Thanks for that, Alice.
