00:05the U.K.'s first 100% Bre-Am scheme and the most exciting companies in the Southwest.
00:11Welcome to this morning's Insider Business Briefing.
00:15Well, hi, I'm Phil Cunliffe.
00:21And I'm Robin Hewson.
00:22And we're together looking at some of the big stories in our newsletters across the
00:27U.K. this morning.
00:28I'm going to start off in Northern Ireland, if I can, Robin.
00:33I have exciting news for all diners in Belfast.
00:36The Ivy Collection's highly anticipated Belfast Brasserie will open its doors at Cleaver
00:42House on Donegal Square North.
00:44I don't know whether you've been to any of the Ivy restaurants.
00:46I haven't been to the Manchester one, but no, not Belfast, so obviously I have a trip
00:50over.
00:51Not Belfast, well, I haven't either.
00:52But it's going to be opening on Tuesday, the 17th of September.
00:56The restaurant is set across two floors of the historic Cleaver House, and it will accommodate
01:02approximately 188 guests, boasting interiors displaying vibrant artwork and floral displays.
01:09So it's also obviously have great views of Belfast City Hall as well.
01:15The Belfast Brasserie will be the Ivy's first full-service brasserie in Northern Ireland
01:21and only its second on the island of Ireland.
01:23So really exciting news for all diners.
01:27So get your bookings in now.
01:28So Robin, what have you got for us this morning?
01:31So one from the Northwest today is about Manchester-based tech company Intelling, which has been acquired
01:36by a U.S. company.
01:38So U.S. group StarTech has acquired the Customer Acquisition and Retention Specialist to expand
01:43its U.K. footprint and its service portfolio.
01:46So Intelling was founded in 2012, and they help blue-chip companies across the U.K.,
01:52South Africa, and India with these campaigns that are helping with acquisition and management
01:59of customers.
02:00So Intelling's founder, Phil Morgan, is going to continue to lead the business, supported
02:04by senior members of staff.
02:07Interesting for another U.S. company coming over to acquire a company like that.
02:11Yeah, definitely a bit of a trend there.
02:13Yeah, absolutely.
02:14Well, down in the Southeast, we're reporting on the U.K.'s first-ever 100% score on a
02:20BREEAM Outstanding Certificate, which has been awarded to property companies Renbridge
02:24and Baclouche for the NOVA science scheme in Oxford.
02:29The BREEAM Outstanding Certification demonstrates the commitment of all parties to bringing
02:35forward a highly sustainable development.
02:38The scheme is strategically positioned in a prime location, close to two of Oxford's
02:45most influential science areas, that's the Oxford Science Park and the Ark, Oxford.
02:51So really interesting, 100% scoring on a BREEAM, which is really amazing.
02:56Yeah, I think we've heard a lot about BREEAM over the last couple of years in the property
02:59world, and a lot of Northwest schemes going for it as well.
03:02So interestingly, we've been picked to the post on the first Outstanding, but I'm sure
03:07they'll be going for a second and third place now.
03:09Absolutely.
03:10So we've got another story today from the Southwest, and I'm going to hand over to our
03:14Southwest editor, Chris Ward, to share more details.
03:17Thanks, guys.
03:19I'm here in sunny Bristol, on the rooftop of Southwest Business Insider HQ.
03:25And I've just returned from a roundtable discussion with a select group of our most exciting companies
03:29for 2024, which we officially announced yesterday, and for which is the focus of our October
03:35issue of the magazine in the Southwest.
03:37So what is Most Exciting Companies?
03:39Well, this is a list we pull together every five years in the magazine, highlighting the
03:4350 businesses we deem most innovative and most likely to grow significantly in the coming
03:48five years.
03:49It's been judged by a panel of experts, and we're pleased that we can finally announce
03:53the companies that have been selected for 2024.
03:56Companies that include Insilitech.
03:59So this is a spin out from Bath, and based here in Bristol, in an incubator called Science
04:03Creates.
04:04And their founder is the inspirational Dr. Selsa Barver, who is the focus of the cover
04:09of our magazine.
04:10He's developed technology that could potentially remove the need to store and transport vaccines
04:15at incredibly low temperatures.
04:17The company is in the phase of scaling up to commercialise what could be globally transformative
04:22tech for people all over the world, and their access to vaccines.
04:26The Most Exciting Companies list is not all Bristol based.
04:29We've got companies like Kenza Group, a Cornish ground source heat pump firm that's had huge
04:33investment from Legal & General and Octopus Group, with a bid of getting heat pumps into
04:38millions of UK homes over the coming years.
04:41There's Exeter's VX3 Sportswear, that's produced sportswear for premiership football and rugby
04:45teams.
04:46And Skybourne, a Cheltenham based firm that's training the next generation of airline pilots.
04:52Too many companies to discuss here, but that's why you need to get a copy of Southwest's
04:59Business Insider for yourselves.
05:00Lots of variety, lots of excitement around this announcement in our October issue.
05:04Some links in the blurb, I believe.
05:06Back to you guys.
05:08Exciting times there from Southwest.
05:09Very much.
05:10Some amazing companies, I'm sure, in the Southwest.
05:12Absolutely.
05:13So, I'm afraid that's all we've got time for today.
