00:00Artificial intelligence could change the way we live, but now a new study suggests it might
00:08also be able to predict how we die.
00:11Experts say this sort of thing shouldn't really worry you.
00:13After all, doctors have been making health predictions for years based on an individual's
00:17life habits.
00:18Now an AI might be able to do the same, though it can do so much faster and likely better
00:23than its human counterparts.
00:24So how does it work?
00:25The study was conducted by researchers at Technical University Denmark, using data from
00:30some 6 million residents.
00:32The researchers found that by implementing the same techniques as language-predicting
00:35AI like ChatGPT, they could also predict what might happen to individuals throughout their
00:40lives.
00:41Finding that rather than deciphering which word comes next in a sentence, their model
00:44figures out what events come next in one's life, given its preceding actions and events.
00:49And the researchers discovered that their AI model, called Life2Vec, is actually better
00:54at predicting a cause of death than any other current methods.
00:57What's more, it was also able to predict certain personality features, such as extroversion,
01:02based on those actions as well.
01:03With one of the study's data scientists, Sunay Leeman, saying about their findings,
01:07quote, the whole story of a human life, in a way, can also be thought of as a giant long
01:11sentence of the many things that can happen to a person.
