Footage has emerged of the Anfield roof leaking over one stand during Liverpool's thrilling 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Sunday evening.

Amad Diallo's late strike forced the Premier League leaders to settle for a share of the spoils, preventing them from increasing their gap at the top to eight points.

Lisandro Martinez had fired United into a shock lead early in the second half. Still, the Reds soon rallied with Cody Gakpo equalizing on the hour mark and Mohamed Salah slotting home a penalty after Matthijs de Ligt was penalized for handball.

However, Diallo provided the visitors with the final sting in the tail after tapping in Alejandro Garnacho's cross, securing a point that will encourage Ruben Amorim.

The showdown was played out in sheets of icy rain and the stormy weather eventually took a visible toll on the venue, as shown in videos on social media.

One clip posted on X showed several leaks cascading down from the top of the Anfield Road Stand, with home supporters seemingly bearing the brunt.

'Leaky Anfield,' the user said, accompanied by an eyes emoji.

The leaks sprang in the section above United's traveling contingent, who were amassed in the lower tie. In another video shared on X, a group of Red Devils supporters took pleasure in cheekily singing 'Anfield's falling'.

From the angle, it was not possible to tell whether they were also dripped on.

The Met Office had issued an amber warning in Merseyside, warning the conditions would 'likely lead to disruption to transport and some other services'.

But the city's Ground Safety Advisory Group ultimately decided that the game would go ahead despite the risk of ice after meeting twice on Sunday morning.

The snow eventually gave way to driving rain during the match and several large puddles were spotted around the ground, including in the press area.

The Anfield Road Stand was redeveloped in early 2024 at the cost of around £100million, taking the overall capacity of the stadium to 61,276.

United, of course, are no strangers to enduring leaks of their own with the decrepit state of Old Trafford late bare on several occasions during storms.

Last season, as United sank to a 1-0 defeat by Arsenal, a fierce thunderstorm hit the 114-year-old stadium, causing water to run down the stands.

The club is weighing up plans to build a new stadium, christened the 'Wembley of the North', but a final decision on the future of Old Trafford has not been made.

Post-match, Liverpool boss Arne Slot admitted the draw with United felt like 'two points dropped', saying: 'I think many people, what stays in their head for a long time is what happens in the end and that was a big chance for [Harry] Maguire, of course.

'But what we tend to forget is two minutes before, Virgil [van Dijk] had maybe such a big chance as he had to make it 3-2 for us. In the end, it was a difficult game.'
