00:20The imported rice per kilo will reach Php 65 per kilo in Kamuning Market in Quezon City.

00:25Retailers say the supply is really high.

00:28You can't lower the price if the supply is high.

00:31They should lower the price.

00:34The government should find a way.

00:36It should not reach Php 60 per kilo of imported rice if there is no profit-earing,

00:43according to Agriculture Secretary Francisco T. Lorel Jr.

00:46There should be no more than Php 60 of imported rice that can be found in the market.

00:50Php 60 of imported rice is already profit-earing in my opinion.

00:55The D.A. plans to implement the maximum suggested retail price or MSRP for imported rice before January ends.

01:01It's not a suggestion.

01:02It's like we are saying that this should be the maximum price.

01:07But it's not a price cap.

01:09We will be coming up with the maximum suggested retail price system very soon.

01:14The D.A. will cooperate with rice importers, retailers and other government agencies

01:18to establish MSRP for imported rice, where it will be implemented,

01:22and what will be the compensation of the importers here.

01:26Meanwhile, the price of some kinds of vegetables in the market is still the same.

01:31Php 20 per piece of tomato in the market of Tandang Sora

01:35is equivalent to half a kilo of rice.

01:38Php 280 to Php 300 per kilo of tomato in Tandang Sora, Quezon City.

01:42That's why Albert was able to buy only two pieces.

01:46The price of tomatoes is really high now.

01:51The market vendors are saying that the price of tomatoes is too high.

01:56only Php 2 per kilo of tomatoes are being imported by Vilma to be sold.

02:22because of the flood that was left by the typhoons last year.

02:25Because of series of typhoons last year,

02:29caused extensive damage to the crops in their vegetative and reproductive states,

02:36particularly in regions or areas producing the Solanaceous family crops

02:44such as tomatoes, bell peppers and chili peppers.

02:47This resulted in significant supply shortages.

02:50But it is expected that the price of tomatoes and other kinds of vegetables will return to normal

02:54before the end of January or the beginning of February

02:57due to the continuation of production.
