00:00You were caught driving a car while Edsa Ortigas flyover was being overhauled last night.

00:06The authorities are now investigating this case.

00:09Maris Umali is a witness.

00:15The car was on fire in the area of Edsa Ortigas flyover northbound.

00:20Some motorists were stopped and the cars were stopped

00:24before the car was completely destroyed.

00:27The CCTV footage shows the driver getting out of the car after being hit by another motorist.

00:32He turned his back to the car and approached it first.

00:35But the driver didn't drive again and kept walking away

00:39while the car was still on fire.

00:52According to the driver, he was on his way home from Pasay by a motorist

00:57and he was told that the car was running out of gas.

01:30there are three possible causes of the fire in the car.

01:33The first is the cause of the gas leak.

01:35The second is the electrical fire or the cause of the currents inside.

01:40possibly the catalytic converter overheating or the engine overheating.

01:45Usually, a vehicle fire is caused by a modification that is not proper.

01:52It's like a gasoline fire because it has a gasoline trail while rolling on the flyover

01:57and there's a gas fire on the ground.

02:00It means to say a fuel line has leaked or even by mere gravity

02:05that the tank was emptying onto the road and it's leaking.

02:10Remember, if the vehicle is smoking, don't continue driving.

02:15There should be a presence of mind.

02:17Stop the vehicle.

02:19Don't forget to handbrake so that no one else will get into an accident.

02:23Get out of the car.

02:24Don't wait.

02:25Get everybody out of the car.

02:26Later, your cell phone, your belongings.

02:30I think the driver did a very nice job of exiting his vehicle on time.

02:34If you know how to extinguish a fire, use a fire extinguisher.

02:38But in order to avoid a fire, the AAP said,

02:41there should be regular preventive maintenance.

02:44It's also dangerous to do it yourself in an electrical and fuel line,

02:47so it's better to do it with a trained professional.
