00:00The Philippine Coast Guard or PCG is closely monitoring the continued presence of China's
00:05so-called monster ship within the country's exclusive economic zone. For three days now,
00:10the BRP Cabra alongside aerial patrols and advanced detection systems from Canada
00:16have been keeping a close watch on the massive Chinese Coast Guard vessel.
00:20Our Patrick de Jesus tells us more on the latest on this developing story.
00:24The BRP Cabra of the Philippine Coast Guard has been monitoring for three days the continued
00:32presence of the so-called the monster ship of the China Coast Guard in the Philippines'
00:38exclusive economic zone. The presence of the monster ship was confirmed with the help of
00:43Canada's Dark Vessel Detection System and the ship deployed by the PCG since Saturday.
00:49The PCG's Canabat plane and islander also conducted aerial patrols to monitor any
00:55possible actions by the Chinese vessel, such as rumming, to enable an immediate response.
01:01According to the PCG, the latest location of the monster ship is 65 nautical miles from Los
01:08Friles Islands in Zambales and has not engaged in any suspicious activity as of yet.
01:19Crossing the point of not less than 60 nautical miles.
01:31It's just slowly moving.
01:38But what we are doing is to make sure that it will not approach the coastline of Zambales.
01:44And secondly, to ensure that the Filipinos will not get angry
01:50and the Philippine Coast Guard will be there to ensure their safety and security.
01:55There were also multiple radio challenges exchanged between the BRP Cabra
02:00and the China Coast Guard vessel.
02:02Canada firmly upholds its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests
02:10This is not the first time the monster ship of China has faced off with Philippine vessels.
02:39In July last year, it also remained near Sabina or Escoda Shoal,
02:44which was then monitored by the PCG's BRP Teresa Magbanwa.
02:48China is showing that they really have control and jurisdiction
02:53in the whole area that they claim, within the 9 or 10 dash line.
02:57Of course, we should conduct our own patrol to show that it is not true that they are
03:06controlling and administering that area.
03:08The government says it will not back down despite the redeployment to the West Philippine Sea
03:14of the monster ship to ensure the protection of Filipino fisher folks in the area.
03:30Notwithstanding the presence of this CG 5901,
03:34it will have no effect on the operation of our government.
