00:09I have to thank everyone up here who over and over again bet on this film that kept falling apart.
00:20And they stuck with it, you know, through thick and thin really.
00:25So thanks to all of you. I really love you all very much.
00:28I'm very grateful. This is an extremely well produced film, so I'd like to thank my producers.
00:34I'll be brief because I've kind of already said what I had to say.
00:40I just want to leave everyone with something to think about.
00:45Final cut tie break goes to the director.
00:51It's sort of a controversial statement. It shouldn't be. It shouldn't be controversial at all.
00:58I was told that this film was undistributable.
01:03I was told that no one would come out and see it.
01:08I was told the film wouldn't work.
01:11And I don't resent that.
01:16But I want to use this as an opportunity to lift up when, you know, filmmakers,
01:23all of my, not just fellow nominees, but all the extraordinary directors in this room.
01:28Films don't exist without the filmmakers.
01:31Please, let's support them. Let's prop them up.
01:38No one was asking for a three and a half hour film about a mid-century designer on 70mm.
01:49But it works. So please, just think about it.
