00:29the dignity of the nation after addressing for the first time the capture of the coup
00:32leader General Romero Vázquez.
00:38In Palestine, a new attack by the Israeli occupation forces killed at least three people
00:43on Monday night.
00:49Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the Resus Studios
00:53in Havana, Cuba.
00:55To begin with the news, more than 2,000 international guests are already in Venezuela to accompany
01:00the Bolivarian people to the sworn in of President Nicolás Maduro for the 2025-2031 term this
01:06January 10th.
01:07This is what the head of state said in a meeting held on Monday in Caracas, capital of the
01:12country with different governmental structures.
01:14Maduro assures that the Venezuelan revolution is based on the popular power and its inspiration
01:19is in the epopea of its heroes.
01:22Maduro's inspiration is Bolivar, not Washington.
01:25His words refer to the intense tour that the extreme Venezuelan right is making with threats
01:31to national interest by every extreme right-wing leader who has received them.
01:36In Venezuela, the Minister of Interior, Diosdado Cabello, walked through neighborhoods near
01:45Miraflores and spoke about his perceptions in the midst of threats made by the far-right.
01:49As always, fascism didn't recognize the electoral results.
02:02They wanted to use force but failed.
02:06Now we don't trust them.
02:08There is no good faith on their behalf.
02:11We are prepared for any circumstances.
02:15They bring mercenaries and we have to work against that.
02:20We have captured so far 125 mercenaries from 25 countries.
02:28They might enter the country but it will be difficult for them to get out.
02:32If they try to do something, we will respond accordingly.
02:36We don't trust their good faith.
02:38They say they will bring their force against the Venezuelan people.
02:44Meanwhile, peace reigns in Venezuela despite the far-right's destabilizing attempts ahead
02:49of President Maduro's inauguration ceremony next January 10th.
02:53Far-right and fugitive from the Venezuelan justice, Emundo González Urrutia, has been
02:57reportedly meeting these days with neo-fascists and representatives of imperial powers in
03:01order to carry out his fascist plans against the Venezuelan institutionality and rule of
03:06law.
03:07In the meantime, the people of the South American nation breathe peace and order in complete
03:12popular civic and military union.
03:14On the other hand, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces continue to deploy to guarantee
03:18internal security and territorial integrity in all strategic points of the Venezuelan
03:22territory ahead of the arrival of presidents and international guests who will attend the
03:27January 10th presidential inauguration.
03:42In Ecuador, the families of the four minors killed by a military patrol in Guayaquil were
04:05waiting for an apology from the Ministry of Defense.
04:08Instead, the judge in the case received a threat.
04:11Defense Minister Giancarlo Loferro called a national press conference to express support
04:15for the armed forces again.
04:17Loferro had assured that there was no operation until the cameras showed it.
04:21He also said that children were stealing, which was never proved, and blamed their parents
04:26for not taking care of them.
04:28In this context, the government threatens Judge Tanya Lurzombrano, assuring that the
04:31qualification of forced disappearance is unfair.
04:43As I prove it with this document, this transmission is being made on January 6, 2025, within the
04:51established term in the schedule of maximum audience, and on national channel, thus complying
04:59with the sentence.
05:00Madam Judge, I have complied with what you ordered, however, we will go as far as possible
05:07to penalize your actions, since you have given way to a political persecution, and I will
05:15not allow your sentence to be used to humiliate the armed forces, that works for peace and
05:22respect of human lives.
05:52Welcome back.
05:57The President of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, said that her government has been focused
06:02on restoring the dignity of the nation after addressing for the first time the capture
06:06of coup leader General Romeo Vázquez.
06:09President Xiomara Castro declared that her party, Libertad y la Fundación Nacional,
06:13has managed to recover the trust of the Honduran people in the politics and institutionality
06:18of the state after 12 years under the government of corruption and drug trafficking.
06:22Castro also rejected the opinion positioned by the right-wing media, which describes the
06:27capture of Vázquez as an alleged political persecution.
06:29Likewise, the head of state said that her administration is oriented to guarantee projects
06:33for the benefit of citizens.
06:43They not only stole the money.
06:47They stole the hopes and they stole the confidence in the politicians.
06:56Today, this party is recovering even that, the confidence in the deputies, in the mayors,
07:12in the ministers, in the institutionality of the state.
07:23Even that is being recovered.
07:28Do not come to me and say that nothing has been done.
07:37And now that they see that this institutionality is working, they say, political persecution.
07:47You can imagine how far the cynicism goes, because they are used to that.
07:54In this context, President Castro stressed that her administration has been aimed at
07:58governing for the benefit of her people with projects that she has managed to implement
08:02throughout the national territory.
08:13That is why I tell you, they made a mistake during 12 years.
08:21They had the time to earn the people's trust.
08:26Today, this woman who speaks to you is demonstrating how to govern for the people, with the people,
08:39with projects for the benefit of the people, in every corner of our country, although the
08:49indifferent do not want to see, but they do listen.
08:57There are projects that come in one way or another, that are for the benefit of their
09:08communities.
09:11And Honduran Police General Romel Vazquez was transferred to the national penitentiary
09:16of Tamara while waiting to attend his first trial hearing.
09:21Police also transferred Venancio Cervantes and Carlos Puerto to the national penitentiary.
09:27The three former military officers are accused of the crimes of homicide and of inflicting
09:31serious injuries to Isis Obed, Murillo and Alex Zavala during a violently repressed demonstration
09:37on July 5, 2009.
09:39The former head of the armed forces was denied the benefit of bail and to defend himself
09:44at liberty and will await the initial hearing of the case for which he is accused in police
09:49custody.
09:50The hearing is scheduled to be held on January 10.
09:57In Haiti, a police officer was killed by unidentified armed gangs on Sunday night in Dalma, 39 Port
10:04Au Prince.
10:05Local media reported that the murder victim was identified as Jean-Louis Wilmont, who
10:10was assigned to the Financial Affairs Directorate of Judicial Police.
10:13In this context, the commander of support to the Haitian security mission asked the
10:17gangs to hand in their weapons and surrender after a new military contingent from Guatemala
10:22arrived in the country.
10:24He also highlighted the strengthening of the country's police force and thanked for the
10:27international support and equipment provided.
10:34The Public Ministry of Peru filed two unconstitutionality lawsuits before the court following the approval
10:39of two laws that interfere with the independence of the prosecutors at work.
10:43On Monday, Attorney General Delia Espinosa informed that several laws have been passed
10:47transferring the investigation of certain crimes, which are the responsibility of the
10:51Public Prosecutor's Office, to the National Police.
10:54She added that Law 32.107 specifies the application and scope of crime against humanity and war
11:02crimes in Peruvian legislation.
11:04The other lawsuit filed is against Law 32.130, which strengthens the investigation of crimes
11:10as a function of the Peruvian National Police and expedites criminal proceedings.

11:23victims of the deadly New Year's Eve ramen crash in New Orleans.

11:33and local police forces.

11:51crosses located at the incident site.
