00:00beautiful sunrise behind you Ali but you know what with that Sun out I think
00:04we're gonna see a lot of glare on the roads which means we have some icy spots
00:08here this morning that'll be a big thing to talk about as we get into the morning
00:16commute today last night we saw that there was some additional snowfall that
00:21came in in the evening and officials here were worried about the freezing the
00:26refreezing of the roads overnight into this morning there's going to be slick
00:30icy conditions across the DMV really the metro area here it is 18 degrees in
00:37Washington DC and the wind to go along with it it is cold this morning but you
00:43mentioned the capital the beautiful sunrise that we're seeing behind me oh
00:46my gosh it is absolutely gorgeous here this morning and to see it coming up
00:51over the city after a day of snow which is still very picturesque here it is
00:57gorgeous to see that today something like that you certainly didn't see
01:01yesterday that snow was coming down and it had kind of like a blanketed gray
01:05type feel to the sky yesterday so it was very difficult to see something like the
01:10Capitol or the Washington Monument yesterday all right let's talk about
01:13those road conditions we were talking about that it could be treacherous for
01:17those hitting the roads this morning I'm actually surprised to see as many
01:21cars as we are right now this early in the morning but I wonder if there are a
01:25number of people that are trying to get ahead of the morning rush as we know
01:29that the city is going to be in a gridlock later on today I'll get into
01:33that in just a second here but before I mention that again the roads a very slick
01:37slushy at times the main road that you're seeing there better than some of
01:41the side roads the one that we're on right now Pennsylvania Avenue as you can
01:45see at least the road that we're standing on very different than that
01:49main road very difficult to navigate and for some smaller cars they're having a
01:53very hard time even being able to drive on one of the roads that were on like
01:58this morning so if you're not in a higher up vehicle like an SUV or
02:02something that has an all-wheel or four-wheel drive it's gonna be very hard
02:06for you to to navigate these roads this car right here that's the type of car
02:10that I'm talking about they're having a harder time being able to travel on
02:14roads this morning let's also mention the wind again that was going to be a
02:17concern today too if we can show the flag up across the street there at half
02:21mass mass today and that is because former president Jimmy Carter his
02:28remains are going to be coming into Washington DC in the next few hours here
02:33for the start of funeral services with funeral services excuse me which will go
02:37through Thursday of this week here in the city coming in from Atlanta Georgia
02:42coming into the base shortly here the other thing to note is because of that
02:47if we can go down the street you'll see those red and blue flashing lights those
02:51are police and Secret Service that are going to be throughout the city they
02:54have already shut down geez you could tell here multiple streets on end going
03:01all the way down Pennsylvania Avenue and all the way leading up to the Capitol
03:04Building as well there is no way that you can get up and down these streets
03:08we're lucky we're on this one this morning again they're going to be
03:12shutting down a lot of this area and so with already travel conditions going to
03:17be tough this morning then you add in all of the road closures that are going
03:22to happen over the next couple of hours as the city welcomes in former Jimmy
03:26Carter former president Jimmy Carter one final time this is going to be I don't
03:32like to use the word nightmare if I don't have to but I have a feeling that
03:35this is going to be a big headache over the next couple of hours for those in
03:39the city so if you can avoid being on the road in the DC metro area today
03:43that's going to be your best bet cold cold cold yeah Ali a read here this
03:48morning in our nation's capital a lot going on here and take Ali's warnings
03:55here seriously
