00:00Less than 24 hours after D.C.'s first snowfall of the season, people now finally starting to make their way back out onto the streets of our nation's capital.
00:10More than 200 snow crews worked overnight to clear the roadways as quickly and as safely as possible.
00:17Snow blanketed Washington, D.C. Monday, bringing anywhere from 4 to 10 inches in the D.C. metro area.
00:24The Department of Transportation deployed hundreds of vehicles to clear major streets and treat side roads, pulling tons of salt throughout the day from the Farragut Salt Dome.
00:34Tuesday, those who weathered the storm were back out enjoying the city.
00:38Athena Davis and her daughter Emma visiting from Montreal.
00:41They were initially hoping for a warmer vacation away.
00:45And we end up here and there's more snow here than in Montreal.
00:50It's totally, I'm flabbergasted.
00:52This is our normal winter landscape. It was just surprising to find it in Washington, D.C.
00:57They weren't the only ones visiting from outside the country.
01:00Rich Summers and David Hudson flew in from London, landing 9 o'clock Monday night during the middle of the snowstorm.
01:07We thought this thing, we thought this plane wasn't going to land.
01:10We thought, this is it, we're going to have to go back to London.
01:12We even asked the air stewardess at the end, we said, are you going to have trouble getting out?
01:16And she said, honey, we're going to fly no matter what the weather.
01:18They say it's been years since they've seen snow.
01:21We are really good at rain in London.
01:23I mean, you want to see some rain, we've got some rain for you.
01:25But not like this. This is amazing.
01:27I've never seen so many snow plows as I've seen in Washington, D.C.
01:31And with that, crews will continue to restore normal service throughout the week.
01:35Schools in D.C. remained closed Tuesday while the government reopened.
