00:00Some people have been drawing some parallels between Donald Trump and Jimmy Carter.
00:06Notably, they were both outsiders, they were both authentic, they both challenged the political establishment.
00:12They both had a tricky relationship with the press, which they used cleverly to maximise their reach.
00:19I mean, what do you make of those comparisons?
00:23Well, I mean, obviously, those are all accurate comparisons, but they come from totally different political spectrums.
00:31Trump on the hard right, Carter centre-left.
00:35We got much of our legislation through in all the areas I've mentioned, environment, education, ethics, deregulation, energy.
00:44We got those through with bipartisan support from Republicans and Democrats.
00:50And Mr. Trump has difficulty dealing with Democrats and getting that bipartisan support.
00:57Also, in terms of the press, we never castigated the press.
01:02We were disappointed with some of their statements, but we never attacked them as the enemy.
01:07Whereas Mr. Trump feels that they are the enemy and has made it clear that they are.
01:14He's attacked individual journalists.
01:16We never did that.
01:20.
