00:00Chaos in Southern California. This is a life-threatening situation. As a fierce
00:05fire picked up momentum Tuesday in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood west of
00:10downtown Los Angeles. Tens of thousands of people have been ordered to evacuate
00:16and more than 13,000 structures were under threat as of Tuesday. Please leave.
00:22Ensure your home is unlocked, the power is off and making sure first responders
00:29can easily access the structure. But the rush to leave created traffic that
00:32backed up roadways, triggering more frustration and fear. We were almost to
00:37sunset so everyone said to like get out of their car. We all left our cars and
00:41walk on foot because it's river blocked. No one said to get anywhere. It is black
00:45down there. This is bone-dry conditions provided the perfect fuel for the hungry
00:50flames. An intense Santa Ana winds amplified the inferno to devastating
00:56heights. The National Weather Service has predicted that the winds are gonna
01:00pick up and get worse. We're gonna have the most significant wind event between
01:0510 p.m. this evening and 5 a.m. tomorrow morning. Once you get an ember landing
01:11into a fuel bed it's a hundred percent receptive and it's off to the races.
01:15Crews waging war against the blaze are working to tackle the flames from both
01:19the air and ground. While the exact cause is under investigation, California
01:24Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency. November, December, now
01:29January. There's no fire season. It's fire year. It's year-round. Ted Linder, Fox News.
