The human brain is an amazing product of evolution, It is made up of about 86 billion neurons, or nerve cells and over a trillion connections on average. All this runs on the equivalent of 20 watts of power to function.

The computing systems used for cloud computing and AI already use a lot of energy and with server centers only getting bigger it is going to become a serious issue in years to come - the low energy use of organoids could help solve this problem.

00:00What are the benefits of biocomputing?
00:05If you look at your brain, okay, it's working now and it consumes about 20 to 24 watts.
00:12That's about an odd light bulb, okay, it's nothing.
00:16And with that you have a great intelligence.
00:19If you want to have the same with traditional neural networks that we have in IT today,
00:26it's being believed that you nearly need a small nuclear power plant to do that, which
00:30is just crazy.
00:32The computing systems used for cloud computing and AI already use a lot of energy, and with
00:37service centres only getting bigger, it's going to become a serious issue in years to
00:42come.
00:43The low energy use of organoids could help solve this problem.
00:46It will be a game changer.
00:49We have something renewable, we have something which uses much less energy, we have something
00:53which is compostable, we're using less resources which are rare, so the future is coming.
