00:03it is possible that transportation fees in LRT 1 will increase

00:20On a daily basis, Dominic, a student in LRT Line 1 from FPJ Station in Quezon City,
00:26will pay P25 to Doroteo Jose Station in Manila using BIP Card or Stored Value Card.
00:33But it is possible to add P9 if the fare in LRT Line 1 will continue to be high.
00:39It is a bit high since we are just students.
00:44Sometimes, we can have allowance or budget.
00:47The Light Rail Manila Corporation or LRMC asks for P6 to P15
00:52which is added to their Single Dependency Distance and Ticket.
00:56For the Stored Value Ticket, the previous minimum of P15 will be P21
01:01from Dr. Santos to En Aquino in Paranaque.
01:04And the final fare from Dr. Santos to FPJ Station will be P58 from P43.
01:12Single Journey Tickets that will be P60 are a bit more expensive.
01:16The final fare will be P45 only.
01:20Earlier, the DOTR Rail Regulatory Unit conducted a public consultation
01:25where some groups are asking for additional fare.
01:29We have an additional fare of P520 per month.
01:36The majority of workers are minimum wage earners.
01:40The LRMC explained that they will be investing P45 billion
01:46like additional new trains and new LRT Line 1 Extensions.
01:51But last year, they only earned P2.6 billion.
01:55The fare deficit is at P2.7 billion
01:59or the lack of Single Step Amasaya since 2016.
02:02We are again engaging our partners in government to resolve.
02:09It's either by a fare increase or paying the fare deficit.
02:13It was stated in their concession agreement that they can increase the fare every two years.
02:19But since they got the contract in 2014,
02:22they were only allowed to increase the fare once in 2023.
02:27The DOTR Rail Regulatory Unit has one month to decide
02:32if they will allow the increased fare in LRT Line 1.
02:36If they allow, it will be possible to implement it in March or April.
02:40We are considering many factors other than the actual petition of LRMC.
02:46We will also consider the position papers of the different NGOs and organizations that gave manifestation.
