00:00Some of Knowsley Safari's residents have been enjoying the snow as their surroundings turned
00:06into a winter wonderland when the latest cold snap hit the Merseyside attraction.
00:11They've been doing generally pretty well. Some better than others. For instance our
00:16meerkats and our bush dogs don't really like the cold.
00:19Although Andy said they're not fond of this weather, we did catch a glimpse of the meerkats.
00:24It's no surprise they might not be the biggest fans of this weather as in the wild they live
00:27in the desert in western parts of South Africa. I felt very lucky to get a glimpse of these
00:33adorable creatures.
00:35The smallest wild pack hunting dog on the planet, bush dogs are also out and about exploring
00:39their habitat. Originating from Central and South America, they stand at just 12 to 15
00:44inches tall.
00:45And our tiger, they're built for the snow so they live in really snowy conditions anyway.
00:50So he's been enjoying it and our Andean bears as well really like it. They've been playing
00:54with digging in the snow and playing with their snowmen and things like that so they've
00:58been enjoying it.
00:59The safari's Andean bears, also known as spectacle bears due to their light brown facial markings,
01:04Bahia and Chewy are very much enjoying the chilly weather. The species is mostly found
01:10in South America's high elevation humid forests including Peru and Bolivia.
01:15The breeding pair love chomping on bamboo sticks filled with peanut butter but when
01:19all that snow gets too much they can recharge in their warm houses.
01:23They have heated houses so they have the option to go inside whenever they want and
01:27our tiger's just chilling outside all the time so he loves it.
01:29Located on the foot safari, the tiger trail is the largest enclosure of its type in Europe
01:34with uninterrupted views where guests are literally inches from these big cats.
01:38Makari, our male tiger especially, the contrast between him and the snow is really quite impressive
01:44to watch. Again, he's built for the snow, he's built for these icy conditions. They
01:49live out in the far east of Russia and northern China as well where it snows a lot, I guess
01:53a minus 40 and yeah, they look the part in these icy conditions. They look really good.
