00:00Stephen Baldwin had kind of a wild journey.
00:02I feel like he got there and was pretty into it.
00:05He was able to complete the first task.
00:06He's talking about how he's, like, trained and, you know,
00:09worked with the military before for TV or something.
00:11I don't know what he was saying.
00:12But then, you know, all of a sudden, he's feeling injured.
00:15He goes to the doctor.
00:16And he had kind of a weird confrontation with the doctor.
00:19What did you guys make of what was happening with Stephen?
00:22I'll let Billy start.
00:23I think he's your classic example of, oh, my God,
00:26this is real.
00:27This is real.
00:28He was not expecting that.
00:29And he'd look, and I think he got mentioned in the show,
00:33he liked when he was doing something that looked
00:36James Bond-ish.
00:37Heroic.
00:38Diving onto an alcohol.
00:39And yeah, he did well on it.
00:39Great, well done.
00:41But when it comes to the rest of it,
00:43carrying the burger and running, being wet,
00:44he did not want to know.
00:46Showing up on time.
00:46When he got uncomfortable,
00:48unfortunately, he was looking for excuses.
00:50And we've heard a million excuses.
00:52We hear it all the time.
00:53And, you know, he was looking for an easy way out
00:56where he didn't have to embarrass himself by saying,
00:58this is too hard.
01:00And the truth is, it was too hard.
01:01All right, he's 50-something years old.
01:04But I mean, I'm older than him.
01:05And I'm still doing it.
01:06We had Carey Hart, we're older than him,
01:09or at least as old, and Billy's older than him.
01:12What's awesome about this program, Special Forces,
01:14is it really is a window into military life.
01:18Now, when you watch military movies,
01:21it's combat, it's badass, it's heroic.
01:24You know, most of military life is discipline,
01:27hurrying up as fast as possible to make a timeline.
01:30It's cleaning, it's taking orders,
01:34and it's going on long hikes and walks.
01:38It's uncomfortable.
01:38It's uncomfortable, it's not glamorous.
01:41Our course is the same way.
01:42Of course, we do some really badass helicopter work,
01:45ocean work, things from heights,
01:48and cliff assaults, things of that nature.
01:50And that's the more exotic stuff.
01:53But the day-to-day is showing up
01:55where you're supposed to show up,
01:57and you're listening to what needs to get done,
01:58and then executing it.
01:59And that's what you do every day.
02:02I don't think people are used to being called out.
02:04I don't think he likes being called out.
02:06At the end of the day, what we say is what we see.
02:09You know, he's getting shouted at for a reason.
02:11He's getting pushed for a reason.
02:13And he didn't like it.
02:14He's used to stopping when he wants,
02:16doing what he wants.
02:17That didn't happen.
02:18And I think that reality-
02:20There's no cut, like on the set.
02:22That reality kicked in quickly with him,
02:24and he was already, not only was he fighting
02:27the elements and what we were putting through,
02:28he's finding his own mind of how he's portraying himself,
02:31and how he's gonna work his way out of this.
02:33We see it a million times.
02:34You know, you can tell straight away.
02:36And it's generally the men that do it.
02:37Women just go, mindset, we're getting on with this.
02:40And that's what they, you know,
02:42when people accept what they've come into.
02:44Because, I mean, he's a smart guy.
02:46He must have, he did his research.
02:48He did military training, apparently.
02:49He's done quite a bit before.
02:51He must have spoken to people who've been on the show.
02:53So he knew what he was coming into.
02:54But the reality of thinking he knows,
02:57and then turning it up, that's what caught him.
02:59And he was like, oh, how now do I work my way out of this?
03:02By a crazy conversation with a doctor.
03:05He had a gig.
03:06Yeah.
03:06He cannot get injured.
03:07No, come on.
03:08I think after that conversation with the doctor,
03:09the doctor had PTSD.
03:11Yeah.
03:11The doctor's face was pretty incredible.
03:13I was like, I don't know why you're telling this to me.
03:15Yeah, the doctor was great.
03:16Yeah.
03:17Great guy.
03:18I was like, this poor doctor is getting yelled at by a-
