00:00KOMELEC released their list of priority areas of concern for the upcoming election period this January.

00:07But they say it may change depending on the events. Here is the report.

00:15The Commission on Elections has appointed areas that will be considered priority areas of concern for the country's election in 2025.

00:22These are the areas that KOMELEC should monitor,

00:25together with the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines.

00:29Of the 1,642 cities and municipalities in the country,

00:33403 will be placed in the red, orange, and yellow categories from January 12.

00:38188 are in the yellow category.

00:41177 are in the orange category.

00:44And 38 are in the red category.

00:46According to KOMELEC, this is still initial and may change depending on the events during the election period in January 12.

00:55It's all directed to us, not to the people.

00:59So that we know where the forces will be prepositioned.

01:04We know which areas will be monitored closely.

01:08We know how we will react in the event of a problem, especially in red category areas.

01:16The yellow category needs proper monitoring from the authorities

01:21because there are suspected election-related incidents.

01:25It also has political opponents, armed groups, and former KOMELEC members.

01:31In the orange category, double monitoring is also needed compared to the yellow category.

01:36But their top priorities are those in the red category

01:40because they are the ones with strong political opponents,

01:43armed groups, and forces.

01:47The majority in the red category is the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao or BARM.

02:27we have already neutralized four terrorist groups in the BARM area.

02:36the ones in the green area are in a peaceful place,

02:42The number of suspected election-related incidents has also decreased to 12 in 2024.

02:47That's why we hope that this data will be preserved until the election is over.

02:52The number of election-related violence is only 12 compared to 2021 and 2018.

02:59That's the lowest number of incidents.

03:02So, we are happy, but we hope that this number will not increase.

03:11The Department of Homeland Security will begin its six-month gun ban from January 12.
