A vital Edinburgh road was closed for around 24 hours over fears of a gas leak. Kingsknowe Road North has now re-opened, after local homes were checked for possible leaks of gas and workers dug up part of the road.

00:04morning with SGM contractors on the scene in the Longstone area shortly
00:09after 9 a.m. yesterday. Nobody was evacuated and SGM workers have left the
00:18scene on Friday morning. I'm here in Kingsnow Road North in the Edinburgh area of
00:26Longstone where there was a suspected gas leak yesterday afternoon. Workers have
00:31been on site since then. It's now Friday morning and I'm told that the road will
00:35soon be reopened. Nobody was evacuated following the suspected gas leak and like I say, SGM workers are just about to pack up and leave.
00:45SGM workers have now left the scene and reopened the vital Edinburgh road link
00:51at around 10.30 a.m. on Friday morning.
