00:00Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional Federal Territories Secretary Mahathir Raes has resigned from

00:17Jiddin, Mahathir said he was stepping down from his post and quitting the party with

00:22immediate effect.

00:25He told FMT that a difference of opinion over the party's struggles was the reason for his

00:30sudden exit.

00:33Mahathir had recently expressed his disappointment over the coalition's support for former Prime

00:38Minister Najib Razak's efforts to serve the remainder of his jail term under house arrest.

00:45He described the January 6th rally for Najib organised by PAS and attended by several Bersatu

00:52leaders outside the Court of Appeal in Putrajaya as disheartening.

00:58He said leaders who once branded the Najib administration as kleptocratic and corrupt

01:03are now calling for leniency and framing him as a victim of injustice.

01:09Mahathir said this reeks of political opportunism and has exposed PN leaders' willingness to

01:16sacrifice their principles for political gain.
