00:16Tomorrow, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden, and Japan Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru will hold a trilateral leaders phone call.
00:27According to the Presidential Communications Office at the PCO, the schedule of the summit, which was first held this Sunday, January 12, was postponed due to the U.S. request for a change in the schedule due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles that have affected thousands of people in the area.
00:47The trilateral leaders phone call is expected to be held on January 13 at 7 a.m. Philippine time.
00:55This call follows the trilateral summit held in Washington last year, where the three leaders discussed issues related to security, infrastructure, and economy in the region.
01:08The three countries also held a multilateral maritime cooperative activity in December, which showed cooperation to ensure freedom of navigation in the Indo-Pacific amid rising tensions in the South China Sea.
01:23Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Maria Teresita Daza said that the leaders are hoping for the progress of their trilateral cooperation from their historic summit in April last year, where they discussed issues related to the economy and other regional and multilateral issues.
