00:00And Venezuela hosts the third plenary session of the International Communication Congress
00:04at the International University of Communications in Caracas.
00:07Let's go with our special envoy Yunus Soner for the details.
00:11The session has started here in the International University of Communication in Caracas.
00:18Delegates from Venezuela as well as other Latin American countries and beyond all over
00:24the world has congregated here to discuss strategies against the media corporations,
00:34Western media corporations that dominate the media landscape and that constitute, blockade
00:40against several countries' attempts to decolonize and to fight against imperialism.
00:48We have here a guest with us.
00:50Let's welcome him.
00:51He's from Burkina Faso, part of the newly established Sahel Alliance.
00:56And Burkina Faso is another important country in Africa, one of the leading countries in
01:00Africa in the fight of colonization.
01:03Welcome Mr. Sempore Fabrice.
01:07Thank you very much for taking the time.
01:08Let us know why are you here?
01:10What is important for you in this Congress?
01:13Okay.
01:14Thank you very much.
01:16My name is Fabrice Sempore from Thomas Sankara Center.
01:22I come from Burkina Faso to support President Maduro because we have like the same fight.
01:33You know in Africa, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger create state alliance of the Sahel.
01:42So they fight a lot against imperialism, against fascism, against slavery.
01:50So Western media don't like it.
01:54They just fight against our country like Venezuela.
02:01So it's for that reason we came here to support President Maduro.
02:08I would like to add another question.
02:11Here in Venezuela for instance, Western media reports all the time a situation of chaos.
02:17But you have seen with your own eyes that the country is in peace, there is no conflict,
02:21domestic conflict here, everyone is in an easy situation.
02:26So the Western media creates a false narrative in respect to Venezuela.
02:32Do you witness such a situation, Western media lies in Burkina Faso as well?
02:38I say it's like the same, it's like the same in my country.
02:44You know even in Burkina Faso they make a lot of false news against our country, against
02:54President Traoré, against the President of Mali, against the President of Niger.
03:09So they are not happy that what happened in our country.
03:13So they just make a false news against our country to fight our socialism.
03:22Thank you very much.
03:25So today as you see experts from Africa as well as Latin America have convened here and
03:33they are discussing concretely strategies how to fight against Western media domination.
03:40They have started right now seven different working groups which deal with topics such
03:46as artificial intelligence, cultural sovereignty, cultural independence, protection of data
03:52in the internet, counter-hegemonic media coordination and the main goal is to establish a network
04:00of the networks as one participant in the introduction speech said, that is to establish
04:07a network on the basis of the anti-colonial, anti-fascist and anti-imperialist struggle
04:14and in seven different working groups ideas are being discussed right now, proposals are
04:20being discussed right now to establish a plan of action, to establish a better coordination
04:26within and that's the core of the issue, within the Hugo Chavez Frias International Network
04:34of People's Communication.
04:36So this is the work that is being taken forward here at the International Communications University
04:42of Caracas, Venezuela with participation of hundreds of experts from Venezuela, Latin
04:47American countries as well as all over the world from the global south.
