Jordan Cronin, James Copley and Daniel Wales roundup the results of Newcastle United, Sunderland and Middlesbrough in the Third Round of the FA Cup.
Transcript
00:00We start at St James' Park, where Newcastle welcomed League 2 side Bromley.
00:05The FUD lights are off, the pitch lights are on, as we reflect on Newcastle United's 3-1 win over Bromley here in the third round of the FA Cup.
00:17It was a case of job done for Newcastle United.
00:21First half, that wasn't a great performance by any stretch.
00:26Nine changes, only Joe Linton and Martin Dubravka remaining from that Arsenal game.
00:34First half was poor, second half was much better.
00:37Bruno Gemmar Eich came off the bench, added Anthony Gordon who came on for Harvey Barnes who was injured.
00:42Joe Linton was replaced by Bruno, that was a pre-planned sub at the start of the game.
00:47Bringing those two players on instantly raised the levels.
00:50Newcastle raced into a 2-1, 3-1 lead.
00:54Apparently, my target one was converted by Anthony Gordon and then Willa Sula with his first goal.
01:00A stunning goal as well, a left-footed finish, a powerful left-footed finish.
01:05At the Stadium of Light, Sunland once again lost against fellow championship outfit, Stoke City.
01:12You know, Watson and Mundler injured on the wing and they're going to be another two, three, maybe four weeks,
01:17Lebris said during his last press conference, so perhaps a little bit of depth there.
01:21Aushish has done okay, you'd think would be relatively well-stocked in the middle now.
01:25You know, Aji Alesi is the big elephant in the room, isn't he?
01:28Obviously, he was stretched off, it doesn't look too good.
01:31Lebris hinted that the injury is probably going to be serious but we'll know more about that over the next couple of days.
01:37So, full-back you would say, obviously Niall Huggins isn't going to be around for a long time.
01:40Leo Hjelda had a decent game against Stoke City but, you know, long-term in the championship at left-back,
01:47all nine can play there but then if Hulme goes down, I think full-back for me is one that we're really struggling.
01:52And finally at the Riverside Stadium, it was an unhappy day for Michael Carrick's Middlesbrough.
01:58Middlesbrough were also dumped out of the FA Cup along with Sunland.
02:02They lost 1-0 at home to fellow championship outfit, Blackburn Rovers.
02:06An Andy Vajman strike in the second half in which he showed good composure to get the ball into the back of the net,
02:12ultimately was the game-winning goal.
02:14Middlesbrough didn't really have many chances, they had a couple which they squandered.
02:18The first half was quite poor, probably from both sides to be honest.
02:21And Middlesbrough, although they did get a little bit better into the second half,
02:25that goal scored by Vajman was ultimately too much for them and they never really looked like getting back into the game.
02:33Blackburn, of course, go on to the fourth round.
02:36Middlesbrough are out at the third round stage, once again in the FA Cup just as they were last season as well.
02:41So disappointing for Michael Carrick and those at the Riverside Stadium.
02:45All focus now turns back to the championship play-offs, getting into them come the end of the season, come May.
02:51And that's a race they're very much part of and they want to be in and they're doing quite well in
02:55but that result against Blackburn won't have done their confidence any good.
