00:00To say the least, the first session day of the lower house from the holiday break was eventful.
00:05The first day is highlighted by a resignation of the head of committee that fulfills a very significant role not only for the lower chamber.

00:18As the house of representatives back to session, the house declared the position of chairperson of committee and appropriations as vacant.
00:27This post was previously occupied by Ako Biko representative Elizaldi Co.
00:32Mr. Speaker, I move to declare vacant the position of chairperson of the committee and appropriations.
00:39There's a motion. The chair hears no objection.
00:43Said motion is carried.
00:46In a statement, Co. extended his gratitude to the majority in congress for accepting his decision to step down as the committee chairperson.
00:57Saying that the decision was made with a heavy heart and was driven by health concerns.
01:03He added how he needs to prioritize his well-being and health from now on, beginning with seeking medical attention he needs.
01:11Co. takes pride in their collective accomplishments, particularly the Ayuda sa Kapos Ang Kita program.
01:18House Speaker Martin Romaldez meanwhile addressed his fellow lawmakers on what to expect in the coming weeks.
01:24That they will hold oversight hearings to ensure the people's money serves the people's needs.
