00:00Illegally dangling wires are a fire hazard and threat to public safety and exposes those who install them to criminal liability.

00:07But Miralco's fix-it operation today in Pateros also assures uninterrupted power supply during the 2025 midterm elections.

00:15PTV correspondent Mary Vel Custodio tells us more.

00:21Miralco conducted an anti-dangling and illegal wire attachment operations in FC Tuazon, Pateros.

00:26Aside from public safety, this fix-it operation aims to secure power supply during national and local elections.

00:33We make sure that our facilities are ready for any eventuality.

00:37We are prepared for the election preparation, which is actually ongoing during the actual elections and even post-elections.

00:52We are aware of what we need to do in terms of ensuring power supply, especially in polling precincts and in canvassing centers.

01:02Department of Energy Secretary Rafael Otilia assured during DOA press conference last Wednesday of no major power interruptions in the summer when the national and local elections will be held.

01:12The power distribution company is continuously working hand-in-hand with the local government units in eradicating the incidence of spaghetti wires.

01:20Sometimes, there's a fire.

01:22So, in fixing this, I think we can avoid the so-called fire that comes from the posts and cables.

01:33And I think it will be very low. We might have zero fire here in our town.

01:40Miralco warns illegal wire installers.

01:43Under the law, we are authorized to go after those who have illegally installed their facilities,

01:51and especially those who have illegal service connections.

01:54That is a violation of Republic Act 7832, which is a criminal liability.

01:59Additionally, the electric company advised the public to follow proper and legal process in installing cable wires by coordinating with Miralco and the LGU.
