The Original Pancake House, originating from Portland, USA, reopened its Kichijoji Marui branch (hereafter referred to as the Kichijoji branch) at 10:30 AM on December 16, 2024, after a renovation.

The Original Pancake House was founded in Portland, Oregon, in 1953. It is a long-established pancake chain with over 200 locations across the United States. The Kichijoji branch opened in June 2013 as the first store in Japan. After 10 years since its opening, the decision was made to renovate, marking this milestone.

The pancake "Dutch Baby," which has been popular since the store's opening, is a signature item that has been passed down since the establishment of the original store in the United States. This dish features an airy batter baked in an oven until golden brown, served with lemon, whipped butter, and powdered sugar, captivating many fans.

Takafumi Kawasaki, CEO of Fukul Co., the company that operates the store in Japan, commented on the improvements to the "Dutch Baby," saying, "We’ve made changes to the oven and adjusted the baking time, technique, and temperature to create a new approach." Additionally, with the renewal, the final touches to the pancake are now performed right in front of the customers, transforming it into a more Instagram-worthy modern dessert.

As a menu exclusive to the Kichijoji branch, the store offers four types of baked castella pancakes (plain, choco-banana, cheese volcano, and red bean butter) as well as three varieties of salad bowls (Caesar, multigrain with colorful vegetables, and chicken).
