00:00The Department of Social Welfare and Development recorded a record-breaking number of aid recipients in 2024.
00:07The new programs of the agency have already started.
00:10According to the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr.,
00:14the details of Joshua Garcia of PTV's Balitang Pambansan are as follows.
00:20Protect the poorest, vulnerable, and most in need of Filipinos.
00:25This is the remaining priority of the Department of Social Welfare and Development
00:29and was approved by DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchaliana
00:32in the 2024 performance report of the agency
00:34that he distributed to the program of Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon.
00:37According to the directive,
00:38this is in accordance with the marching orders of President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr.
00:42in the full cabinet meeting held in Kamakailana.
00:44The instruction of the DSWD is to make sure that our programs such as 4Ps,
00:49the aid for the Kapos Angkita Program,
00:52AICs,
00:53and the other programs that we are doing,
00:55the disaster preparedness,
00:56all of these should be starting now.
00:58No time to wait.
00:59We know that there are many in need
01:01and we need to roll out right away.
01:04In 2024,
01:05the record-breaking number of assistance was recorded
01:09where more than 8 million family food boxes were distributed to those in need.
01:13The assistance of 36 billion pesos was also distributed to the poor
01:18and those affected by the pandemic.
01:20While their 4Ps program has more than 4 million family members,
01:24more than 400,000 of them have already completed the program
01:27and are considered to be in need of assistance.
01:30The DSWD and DOH are also focusing on the stunting
01:34where they will give the first 1,000-day grant to the families of the affected families.
01:39For now, the agency is continuing to give them free meals
01:42and an off-land program.
01:43Here, Gatchalian, who launched their first food bank and soup kitchen in the country,
01:50along with the First Lady,
01:51Liza Araneta Marcos,
01:52Our role as the DSWD is to bridge the gap between the poor
01:57so that we can include them and make them inclusive.
02:00That's why it's important for us to expand the program
02:04so that once and for all, by 2027,
02:06before the President is elected,
02:07we can say that there are no more hungry Filipinos.
02:10While reaching the off-land program,
02:12all families or individuals living in the country will be able to leave.
02:16Meanwhile, the finalization of the guidelines
02:19on financial assistance for the poor,
02:23such as ACT-UP, AICS, and others,
02:25so that it can be used correctly and political propaganda will not spread.
02:28It is also expected that the UNIFIED IDENTIFICATION program
02:32for persons with disabilities will begin in the second quarter of the year
02:35to ensure that the benefits will only benefit those with disabilities,
02:39as well as other agencies and local governments.
