00:00Approved in the third and last reading of the Senate is the extension of the term of the officials of Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan.
00:08There are 22 senators in favor, no one is against and no one is abstaining. Under Senate Bill 2816, the fixed term of the officials of Barangay and SK is four years from the current three years.
00:21They can serve up to three consecutive terms. According to the sponsor of the ruling, Senator I.M. Marcos, the Barangay and SK officials can carry out long-term projects if their term is longer.
00:34The counterpart bill, in favor of the five-year or six-year term, is being discussed.
