A 16-year-old boy has been detained for driving without a licence, causing a fatal crash that claimed five lives on Jalan Stutong Baru, Kuching on Tuesday (Jan 14) afternoon.

Initial investigations revealed that the crash occurred when the suspect lost control of the vehicle he was driving, veered into the opposite lane, and collided with two motorcycles and two cars.

00:36Police have detained the teenage driver and are investigating the incident under Section
00:4241, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers causing death by reckless
00:49or dangerous driving.
00:51The police are seeking additional witnesses to the accident.
