A 31-year-old businessman pleaded not guilty in the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court on Tuesday (Nov 19) to a charge of dangerous driving, which resulted in the death of a seven-year-old girl four days ago.  P. Kuhan Raj was accused of driving a BMW car at high speed and causing the death of pillion rider, Nur Naura Nathifa Mohd El-Khuwailid, on the Bukit Jalil highway heading towards Puchong at 9.50pm on November 15. 00:12Thirty-one-year-old P. Kuhan Raj was accused of driving a BMW car at high speed and causing

00:18the death of pillion rider Nur Naura Natifah Mohamed El-Kuwailid on the Bukit Jalil Highway

00:24heading towards Puchong at 9.50pm on November 15.

00:29The charge was framed under Section 41, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries

00:37a maximum jail term of 10 years and a fine of up to 50,000 ringgit upon conviction.

00:44Deputy Public Prosecutor Salsabila Mohamed requested the court to impose a bail of 10,000

00:50ringgit.

00:51Lawyer Inderpal Singh, who represented the accused, requested lower bail on grounds that

00:56his client is self-employed and supports his wife and two children aged below four,

01:01as well as his elderly parents.

01:04The court allowed bail of 12,000 ringgit with one surety and ordered the accused's driving

01:09licence to be suspended with immediate effect.

01:12The case was set for mention on January 21, next year.
