00:12Should the Comprehensive Sexuality Education of Children and Students of CSE be continued?

00:19That's what the House Committee on Basic Education and Culture wants to review in the Department of Education.

00:25Aren't you going to suspend? Does the DepEd just want to proceed with this or you will have an answer to us by next week if this would be suspended?

00:33The discussion started already a few weeks ago. We will be sending the message and then we will be updating the House.

00:42DepEd said, in the Reproductive Health Law or RH Law, their Department Order 31 was anchored in 2018 in the implementation of CSE.

00:52CSE is included in the problem faced by early pregnancy of children in adolescent age and the increasing number of HIV cases in their country.

01:03DepEd said, in the IRR or Implementing Rules and Regulations of the RH Law,

01:08that it should be given according to the age of Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Education to school-aged children.

01:17Under the RH Law, children aged 10 to 19 should be given knowledge about CSE.

01:24But earlier, DepEd said that they are already giving a foundation for CSE to children.

01:33Do we need to go as early as 6-5 years old and teach them reproductive health and gender sensitivity?

01:42For the early education, it's not actually the actual sexuality education that is taught.

01:49But these are foundational knowledge like, for example, identifying their body parts and describing practical ways of caring and protecting their bodies.

02:04So that is in general. It's not really that specific.

02:08DepEd also included in the agenda of the committee the approval of the CSE because of the acceptance of comments from parents.

02:16Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, Chairman of Senate Committee on Basic Education, will call for a hearing to clarify the issue.

02:24In an interview, Education Secretary Sani Angara said that they recognize the concerns about the implementation of CSE as a provision for the Senate.

02:36DepEd's door is now open for public statements and speeches.
