00:00The Commission on Elections admitted that the printing of balotas will be delayed, but the Commission plans to use the machines of the National Printing Office

00:09to reach the target of the printing of balotas within 70 days before the election.

00:20The Commission on Elections is back to zero for the printing of balotas for the 2025 National and Local Elections.

00:27This is to comply with the Supreme Court's order to include the names of the five candidates in the balota.

00:33Because of this, some are wondering if the election will continue in May 12 or will it result in manual elections.

00:42The Commission's answer is,

00:44The day of the election is May 12, this year.

00:49It will not be reset because it is included in the Constitution.

00:54We will proceed with the automated election.

00:56That is our law.

00:58The Commission has no intention of violating our law.

01:02The Comelec admitted that they will be delayed, but this is just a preparation for the need for the election,

01:08like the printing of balotas, which was targeted by the Comelec in Usad on January 20.

01:14They will also issue new balot phases, which they are already doing.

01:18The Commission also started on the change of the election management system and database of the candidates for the balotas.

01:25The map elections will also be shifted to January 25.

01:29The Comelec will delay the printing of balotas for almost two weeks.

01:34But they plan to use the machines of the National Printing Office to reach the target of finishing the printing within 77 days.

01:48that all the machines of the NPO, including the four and the two that are currently being used, can be used.

01:56The almost six million balotas that were first printed by the Comelec,

02:01will be destroyed by the Commission so that it will not be used in the election.

02:05The wasted funds are estimated at P150 million because the millions of balotas will be lost.

02:12But the Comelec said that they will still spend money on the reprinting and they will look for a fund for it.

02:18In the end, the Comelec will be responsible for the expenses.

02:25Of course, the NPO will not be paid. It will be free because we are not DRO.

02:31We will pay the printing services of the National Printing Office.

02:36Meanwhile, there are several candidates who were disqualified and the COC was canceled,

02:41because there was a pending petition in the Supreme Court.

02:44But the Comelec said that they are fixing the election management system so that it will not be difficult

02:50if the name will be added to the balotas.

02:54But for now, their priority is to fix the list of candidates,

02:59especially for those who are running for senator because the number of them will be changed from the balotas.
