00:05and upcoming challenges to the alliance.
00:10NATO's chief Mark Root opened the two-day session with a clear goal, shifting to a wartime
00:15mindset.
00:18To prevent war, we need to prepare for it.
00:22It's time to shift to a wartime mindset.
00:26And this means we need to make our defenses even stronger by spending more on defense,
00:31producing more, and better defense capabilities.
00:35Russia is hard at work to try to weaken our democracies and chip away at our freedom.
00:40And it is not alone.
00:41It has China, North Korea, and Iran by its side.
00:45Root warned the alliance members that Europe's future is at stake, and NATO must do all it
00:50can to keep the people safe amidst growing security threats to the region.
00:54The next summit, in six months' time, will take place in The Hague.
