00:04participated in the Justice Run for Mervyn

00:08at Bridgetown Obstacle Park in Pasig City.

00:11Teammate Bernadette Tinoy has more.

00:14Hundreds of runners participated in the Justice Run for Mervyn

00:19which was able to give justice to the death of South East Asian Games gold medalist Mervyn Guarte.

00:26The white wolves beat the group

00:29on track 38 in Taguig City to Bridgetown Obstacle Park in Pasig City.

00:34For Jeff Reginio, Obstacle Runner and the main organizer of the program,

00:39they wanted to show their support and determination to give justice to the death of Mervyn Guarte.

00:45It was on January 7 that they heard that the 32-year-old champion

00:50was killed while he was sleeping in Kalapan City in Oriental, Mindoro.

00:56Until now, we are still seeking justice because the case of Mervyn is still unclear.

01:03At first, we did not believe it because it was too early.

01:07We were not ready and of course, our friend was not ready yet.

01:10But our friend who was with us in OCR was more relaxed.

01:14That's why the whole OCR community was very emotional.

01:18Jeff also added that they plan to hold a run event again for the athlete.

01:24Meanwhile, some friends and Mervyn's companions in the OCR community were also one in running.

01:31We show support and solidarity from the community since what happened was tragic.

01:36It's such a big loss for all of us.

01:39I've been personally coached by him so I know how great he is,

01:43how humble he is and how great he is as an athlete.

01:46For the family of Mervyn Guarte,

01:48we hope that we will continue to honor his name

01:53despite what he did for the Philippines and the glory he gave to the country.
