00:00The three Filipino Wushu artists Agatha Wong, Carlos Bailon, and Thornton Sayan will be participating in the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China.
00:12For more details, here is Paolo's report. Thank you.
00:18The delegation of the Philippines is slowly drifting away from the athletes who will be sent to Sabac for the upcoming 12th edition of the World Games in Chengdu, China this August.
00:29In a PTV Sports interview, Wushu Federation of the Philippines Secretary General Julian Camacho confirmed the participation of the Filipino Wushu artist Agatha Wong, Carlos Bailon, and Thornton Sayan in the World Meet.
00:42This is due to the successful campaign of the Philippine Wushu Team in the 16th World Wushu Championships in Texas, USA in 2023,
00:51where a total of four silver and one bronze medals were won by the team.
00:56Camacho believes that the Filipino Wushu athletes have a great chance to deliver a good performance and get a podium finish in the competition.
01:06We always hope for the best. They are really trying also their best, our athletes, to get gold or silver.
01:19I think if you could just give your best and try to bring honor to our country, that's what we ask of them.
01:29As long as we try our best, win or lose, I think it's their last will.
01:37Hopefully, I think they have a very good chance to get a medal finish in this World Games.
01:50Camacho also confirmed that of the three Filipino Wushu artists who qualified for the World Meet,
01:56Wong, Bailon, and Sayan, only two will be sent here.
02:01This is after Thornton said that he will retire for the World Meet.
02:06He's already retired. He should be qualified. He's already retired.
02:13We just received his retirement letter last week. He won't be joining us.
02:22I think he's taking up marine engineer or something like that in the province.
02:30He will concentrate on his studying on that particular course.
02:35We can't force him. We hope for his best in his future career.
02:46For now, Wong and Bailon are under intensive training with the entire Philippine Wushu team
02:52until the World Games and other competitions that will be held this year.
02:58This is Paulo Salamatin for Atletang Pilipino sa Bagong Pilipinas.
