00:17President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. sent a message for the first day of the Sub-Regional Meeting on Enhancing Cooperation for Firearms Trade Treaty Universalization and Humanitarian Disarmament.

00:29According to the President, peace and unity can be achieved if the countries have respect, equality, and sovereignty.

00:38The establishment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in ASEAN and the adoption of the Ottawa Convention

00:44is a key step in the development of peace and progressive nations.

00:49The Office of the Special Envoy on Transnational Crime initiated the three-day meeting under the President's Office.

00:57The Department of Foreign Affairs and Non-Violence International Southeast Asia is also present here.

01:02The governments of Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Japan are also present here.

01:08The Law Enforcement Agencies of the Philippines, as well as the National Security Council, Department of National Defense, and Bureau of Customs are also present here.

01:30Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin also attended the meeting through Ambassador Marciano Paineur, Jr.

01:37The Arms Trade Treaty stands as a landmark effort to regulate the global arms trade, prevent diversion, and reduce human suffering caused by illicit arms transfers.

01:51The roadmap for regulation of the use of arms will be discussed in the coming days to strengthen arms control in the countries.

01:59Countries will also exchange ideas for the Capacity Building, Joint Training Program, and solving cross-border arms trade challenges.

02:07By working together, we can prevent conflict, protect lives, and build a future where arms are traded responsibly and used only in accordance with international law and humanitarian principles.
