00:00Namaskar Acharyaji, I am Avinash Kumar, a second year undergraduate student of the Department
00:14of Mechanical Engineering.
00:16So my question is, sometimes when I met some respectful person, I am hesitated to express
00:21or to put forward my thoughts to them might be out of my over consciousness.
00:26And at sometimes I left speechlessness and can't express efficiently.
00:32So what could be this, how to come up with the situation, please guide us.
00:46Let this hesitation or whatever be there, just pay attention to the person if he is
00:54worth listening to, speaking or not speaking, hesitation or confidence, these are not very
01:05important things.
01:10What matters is your attention, are you getting it?
01:19Yes sir.
01:21So how much hesitation did you have to overcome in saying yes sir?
01:29Not much, just I said.
01:31Because you are in this conversation, because you are listening, because you are immersed
01:39in listening itself and hence there is no space for hesitation or whatever.
01:48Right now your entire energy is just focused on listening, so therefore there is a smooth
01:59flow of words when it is needed, otherwise silence is good enough.
02:09The thing is in our society, in this distorted culture that we have nowadays, there is just
02:17too much emphasis on public speaking, there is just too much emphasis on confident expression.
02:28There is one advertisement that I see very frequently these days on the web.
02:37Some kid probably 5 years or 8 years old, he is standing pointing a finger at the audience
02:51as if teaching them something, and the kid is what 5, 6, 7 something, and the kid is
02:58extremely expressive, extremely outgoing, a clear extrovert.
03:09That has become the ideal of this age.
03:15Speak and speak without content, speak and speak without knowledge, your worth is determined
03:24by your fluency, fluency in spewing gibberish on anybody who is unfortunate enough to listen.
03:38Speaking or whatever is no great art or indicator of worth in life.
03:53First of all, have something worth saying, and then it does not matter much how you express it.
04:05If you want to put it quantitatively, 95 percent importance is of the quality of your content.
04:18Five percent, and that too is an overestimation, belongs to your accent, your vocabulary,
04:31your fluency, and such things, and quality in content comes from attentiveness, it comes
04:45from a certain sincerity towards life.
04:53The markets want you to be insincere, otherwise their goods won't sell.
05:00So they promote a very stupid kind of expressiveness.
05:10The people in the name of fluid expression just talk nonsense non-stop, and are given
05:32some respect by some ignorant people.
05:38Human beings get impressed by all those things, oh he is so fluent, I am impressed.
05:48You should know better, be impressed by the right things.
05:57Yes sir, so these things come later on, if I have something to say, I have the content,
06:12but the thing, the dilemma of state in which my mind is, whether to say it means, I am
06:21thinking that thing is good, but whether it is actually good or not, that…
06:28Even that certainty comes from attentiveness itself, how will you know whether something
06:36is really good or not, you want somebody else to tell you, you want it to be written in
06:42some book somewhere, how will you ever know, go close to that thing, examine it, observe,
06:49play with it, experiment and know for yourself, all that comes in the purview of attentiveness.
06:57Okay sir, that's all, thank you, I got my answer.
07:09Great.
