00:00In January, more than a hundred houses were set on fire in Metro Manila, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection.

00:06Like in Barangay 48, Barrio Menú, Tondo, Manila, where the celebration of the fiesta was postponed because of the fire, two houses were set on fire.

00:14Let's hear from Bea Pinla.

00:18On the same day of the fiesta of Santo Niño de Tondo, a thick smoke covered and the house caught fire in Barangay 48, Barrio Menú, Tondo, Manila.

00:30The residents poured their own water to help put out the fire.

00:36The barangay staff also helped to save the man trapped in the third floor of the burning house.

00:44He was the only family affected by the fire that lasted more than half an hour before it was completely put out at 5 p.m. according to the authorities.

00:53A senior citizen was injured.

00:55We thought it was okay because the senior citizen that we took out had a back injury.

01:02We took him to the ambulance.

01:06The 58-year-old man and his 43-year-old nephew were also killed.

01:12My father went up again because my cousin was still there.

01:15They didn't go down. I love my father very much. I will not let my mother and my brother down.

01:22It hurts a lot. I didn't expect that to happen.

01:40The fire was so intense that it started in the second floor of the house.

01:45The authorities and their neighbors also helped the injured.

01:50We were able to take care of the nine families.
