00:00The Sandigan Bayan accused the former Quezon City Mayor, Herbert Bautista, of being guilty in the Graft case.

00:06He was also the former mayor of Lungson.

00:10In a contract worth around P30 million, which did not pass in the Lungson case, Mark Salazar was convicted.

00:19The former Quezon City Mayor, Herbert Bautista, was emotional when he read the verdict earlier in the Sandigan Bayan Special 7th Division.

00:31The court said that Bautista is guilty beyond reasonable doubt, and his former city administrator, Aldrin Cunha,

00:39in the case of violating the Anti-Graft Law in accordance with the online occupational permitting and tracking system of the Quezon City Hall in 2019.

00:50Bautista is the former artist who became the mayor of Quezon City from 2010 to 2019.

00:56The P32.1 million project during Bautista's time was paid for without an appropriation ordinance of the Lungsod Hall,

01:05and was paid in full even though the project is not yet complete.

01:08As punishment, the Sandigan Bayan ordered Bautista and Cunha to be imprisoned for no less than 6 years and 1 month,

01:17and not more than 10 years.

01:19They were also charged with perpetual disqualification to serve or serve in the government.

01:25The GMA Integrated News tried to get Bautista and Cunha to give their statement as the Sandigan Bayan was released, but they refused.

01:34In one statement, Bautista's lawyers insisted that they were saddened by the decision of the Sandigan Bayan.

01:41Their client is innocent and there was no violation.

01:45Not a single cent went to Bautista from the project.

01:49No one was left behind, not even the Quezon City government, because the Lungsod Hall is very anxious.

01:56They are preparing to appeal the decision.

01:59Meanwhile, Bautista and Cunha will remain under professional liberty while they appeal the decision.
