00:00Senator Rafi Tulfo has had it with the latest OFW fatality and reported abuses on homegrown migrant workers in Kuwait and wants a deployment ban real quick.

00:11Meanwhile, the DMW is conducting its study on the viability of Senator Rafi Tulfo's proposed deployment ban even as it investigates the latest migrant worker death and string of abuses on OFWs.

00:26Our Daniel Manalastas fills us in with more.

00:32A series of deaths and abuses reportedly befell some of our OFWs in Kuwait.

00:55No, we're not the problem. The problem is Kuwait. The problem is the government of Kuwait not doing enough.

01:07According to the Department of Migrant Workers, it is working to address the needs of OFWs and vowed to study Tulfo's proposal.

01:15We have been reviewing the policies and the requirements and in line with the Senator's clear recommendation, then we will be committed to get back to him in a week's time.

01:29So what's on my mind is to account for each and every OFW. How are they? It should be clear that they are in good condition before we continue at this stage.

01:41Second, I agree with you. There should be some screening, psychological screening.

01:48Senator Joel Villanueva, meanwhile, wants to wait first for results of the DMW study on a possible deployment ban.

01:58Maybe if I'm a neophyte in this business, I'll say it right away. It's important that we have a 24-7 mechanism to monitor.

02:07We already have bilateral agreements, so if it doesn't follow, it should be seen right away.

02:13And our recruitment agencies should have a higher responsibility.

02:23Tulfo's recommendation comes following the death of Pinay OFW, Jenny Alvarado, who is believed to have succumbed to suffocation.

02:32Jenny's daughter also appeared in the Senate hearing and revealed some details which their mother experienced.

02:40My mother said that she was imprisoned in her own house when her father left.

02:45She was scolded for eating too much.

02:51Her father's eldest daughter would always complain to her father's mother.

02:59She was always contracted to go back to the Philippines.

03:03She would say, if you don't come back here, I won't. I'll give you your entire salary.

03:08Her friends contacted us about the details of her father.

03:13They said that her father is also a prostitute.

03:17Because of the revelations, Tulfo recommended to look on a possible foul play in the case.

03:25Okay. Let's investigate DMW and OFW and DFA.

03:30The angle of foul play.

03:32She was imprisoned, she was scolded, she was not fed properly.

03:39That is the purpose of our investigation of the case, regardless of the autopsy results.

03:45Whether or not there is an intent to trap them, Mr. Senator, that will be revealed in the case that we will investigate.
