00:00In Baroy, Lanao del Norte, the colorful, unique Akan Festival celebrated the town's rich clay heritage and its patron, Señor Santo Niño.
00:08The festival featured lively street dancing competition with Lanao del Norte's National Comprehensive High School emerging as the grand champion.
00:17The event highlighted the town's unique clay industry and its cultural traditions.

00:31This is how the residents of Baroy, Lanao del Norte, celebrated the Guinea-Akan Festival showcasing their rich clay heritage.
00:39The term Guinea-Akan is derived from the word gioc, a method of refining clay by stepping on it.
00:44Baroy is known as the clay town of Lanao del Norte due to its rich deposits of clay used in pottery.
00:51This celebration is also a thanksgiving to Señor Santo Niño, the patron saint of Baroy.
01:13Meanwhile, three contingents competed in the invitational Guinea-Akan Festival street dancing competition.
01:19The Lanao del Norte National Comprehensive High School was declared the grand champion and took home a cash prize of P200,000.
01:27They also won the Best Festival Queen Award.
01:30The contingent from Barangay Malingao in the town of Tubud received a cash prize of P150,000 as the first runner-up.
01:38The second runner-up was the town of Jimenez in Misamis Occidental and took home a cash prize of P100,000.
01:49Meanwhile, the Department of Tourism Region 10 shared how they plan to support Baroy's clay products.
01:55We want to have it leveled up so that we can actually promote it both locally and internationally.
02:01So we're planning to visit some of the clay establishments and also ask for the participation and the support of other agencies like DTI.
