00:00Welcome to MissMojo and today we're recounting 10 outrageous Nickelodeon controversies you
00:10might not recall.
00:19Number 10.
00:20Jason Biggs fired from TMNT
00:33Jason Biggs is most known for playing the main character in the American Pie series,
00:37a lewd comedy film franchise.
00:39Later, Biggs would be brought on board to voice Leonardo in Nickelodeon's adaptation
00:44of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
00:46While his past work didn't affect any Nickelodeon work opportunities, his penchant for posting
00:51offensive tweets definitely did.
01:02He reportedly knew that the network wasn't happy with his controversial posts, but refused
01:06to tone it down.
01:08Many phoned Nickelodeon to call for Biggs' dismissal.
01:11And by season 3 of the show, that's exactly what happened.
01:15The tweets, in case you were wondering, were about subjects like the Pope, women's basketball,
01:20a plane crash, Paul Ryan's wife, and a bachelorette contestant who passed away, among other things.

01:35Plagiarism Allegations
01:36In 2019, Hair Love, an independent animated short film was released to both critical and
01:42audience acclaim thanks to its heartwarming story and masterful execution.
01:47It even went on to win the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film.
01:56Unfortunately, its stunning character designs were heavily replicated in a Nick cartoon
02:03that was set to air in 2020.
02:05Made by Maddie was The Offending Show, which followed the adventures of a young girl Maddie
02:10in New York.
02:17While the plot was completely different from Hair Love, the appearances of the daughter,
02:21father, mother, and even the cat were nearly carbon copies of the short film's characters.
02:27The production company denied the accusations, however, it was still pulled by Nickelodeon
02:32it indefinitely and has yet to make it to air.
02:53Number 8.
02:54Double Dare Injuries
02:55Double Dare was a children's game show where two teams would compete by tackling obstacle
03:00courses and win prizes.
03:03The show was popular back in its day, although it's had its fair share of controversies.
03:11Hilariously, one woman threatened to sue the show after host Mark Summers pied her in the
03:19face.
03:20Apparently, this incident meant she couldn't be physically intimate with people anymore.
03:24Yeah, we're not really sure either, but the woman reportedly received $25,000 so a
03:30courtroom confrontation could be avoided.
03:40Another time, a child lied on his medical form and turned out to have bones too fragile
03:45for the obstacle course.
03:46When he went through it, he ended up breaking something like 17 bones in his body.
03:56Number 7.
03:57iCarly Stunt Gone Wrong
04:08The show iCarly was surprisingly unsafe to work on, as Jeanette McCurdy describes in
04:13her memoir I'm Glad My Mom Died, mainly due to Dan Schneider's inappropriate behavior
04:18and general misconduct.
04:20The show was so unsafe, in fact, that back in 2011, a stuntwoman was seriously injured
04:27after being dropped from a high wire.
04:39The stuntwoman, Katina Waters, was meant to be dropped slowly to the floor, but was let
04:43go without warning, fracturing both her legs.
04:47Waters sued Nickelodeon, MTV, and the show's producer for the incident, and has since returned
04:52to the profession after recovering.
05:00Number 6.
05:01Dee Dee Pickles in the Bathroom Stalls
05:03In 2013, Slimed, an oral history of Nickelodeon's Golden Age, was published, which chronicles
05:19Nickelodeon's history, featuring stories and interviews from staff.
05:24In it, Melanie Chartoff, the voice of Tommy's mom in Rugrats, Dee Dee Pickles, described
05:29how animators created crude, dominatrix-themed illustrations of her character and displayed
05:34them in the men's bathroom.
05:41It made for quite the divide between the workspace of writers and voice actors with that of the
05:46animators, who clearly engaged in more provocative humor.
05:49Welp, we're never going to see this show the same way after that little piece of information.
05:59Number 5.
06:01Milk Streaming from the Eye
06:02Figure It Out is a panel game show that aired in the late 90s, which brought on children
06:07with unique skills as contestants.
06:09Their secret talent had to be guessed by a panel of Nickelodeon celebrities.
06:22In season two, one episode featured a child taking in milk through their nose and letting
06:26it out through their eyes.
06:28As you might be thinking, this is a pretty bizarre talent, and one that was certainly
06:33tough to guess.
06:44More importantly, parents were worried their children would imitate the act after watching
06:49the episode and hurt themselves in the process.
06:52As a result, the episode only aired once before being banned altogether, and now remains lost
06:58to time.
07:08Number 4.
07:09Invader Zim's Dark Harvest Episode
07:12Invader Zim is a rather dark children's show, as it follows an alien Zim who wants to enslave
07:23humanity.
07:24However, they really missed the mark with their fourth-ever episode, Dark Harvest.
07:40It stands out for taking its disturbing content to an extreme, featuring Zim consuming the
07:46organs of children in the hopes of appearing human.
07:49Unfortunately, the plot inspired a teenager to brutally eviscerate his neighbor in October
07:55of 2005.
07:56He was tried as an adult and given the maximum sentence possible for the crime, allowing
08:01him to be eligible for parole in 2030.
08:20Number 3.
08:21Spongebob and the Raunchy Burger King Commercial
08:33Squarebutts was a Burger King commercial aired in 2009, which was a collaboration with Spongebob
08:38Squarepants.
08:39A music video parodying Sir Mix-a-Lot's Baby Got Back, it features the sandwich monarch
08:45and an entourage of square-bottom dancers.
08:57The cartoon's target audience is children, and naturally, parents were outraged at the
09:02advertisement.
09:03The creators responded by saying the ad was targeted at grown-ups, which is a bit perplexing
09:08irrespective of the show's adult fanbase.
09:11Making the claim even weaker is that the product being sold in the commercial was also entirely
09:16aimed at kids.
09:26Number 2.
09:27Nickelodeon Production Assistant Jailed
09:45While many accusations have befallen Dan Schneider, he was far from the only unsettling
09:50individual involved in the big Nickelodeon scandal.
09:54Former production assistant Jason Handy was charged on several counts, including child
09:58sexual exploitation and sending sexually explicit emails to minors.
10:13Authorities found more than 10,000 indecent photos of minors in his possession, alongside
10:18a written confession of his crimes.
10:20He pleaded not guilty, but the court disagreed and sentenced him to six years in prison.
10:26He was released in 2009 but re-sentenced in 2014 for further misdemeanors.

11:02Amanda Bynes' Struggles
11:14Growing up as a child actress was said to have been incredibly stressful for Amanda
11:18Bynes.
11:19Amanda Bynes Schneider, a man long overdue for backlash and retribution, produced her
11:24breakout show, which, like all Schneider's shows, brought harm upon its child actors.
11:37The industry took its toll on Bynes, and she took a step back from the limelight in 2010.
11:42Since then, any attention she's received in the media has seldom been positive.
11:47Her journey reveals the dark truth about childhood stardom, especially on Nickelodeon,
11:52where the egregious stories seem to be endless.
