A$AP Rocky is headed for court on gun charges ... the Grammy-nominated rapper just turned down a plea deal from L.A. prosecutors, opting to face a jury trial instead.

00:09for that alleged shooting of ASAP Relly way back in 2021.

00:24the prosecutors played let's make a deal.

00:27And they were willing to let him plead guilty
00:29to a lesser offense,
00:31serve 180 days, six months in jail,
00:34and that would be it.
00:36And he said, nope, I'm gonna gamble.
00:39I'm going to trial.
00:41And if he loses,
00:43he could face more than 30 years in prison.
00:45Yeah, that's a very serious charge,
00:47but he believes in his case,
00:49believes in his version of what happened that day,
00:52which his attorney, Joe Takapina said in court
00:57involves the weapon that was in his hand
00:59that ASAP Relly says Rocky used to shoot him.
01:05Well, Joe Takapina says they have evidence
01:07that that gun was just a prop gun.
01:10And that it could not have done
01:12what ASAP Relly is claiming it did.
01:15So that's part of their strategy going forward.
01:18But you're right, this is a pretty big gamble
01:21because 180 days, not to say that 180 days-
01:24You don't even serve the 180
01:25because they're gonna let you out.
01:26You don't serve less because it was in county jail,
01:28so it would be less.
01:29It's a revolving door.
01:30Boy, it's hard to imagine a set of circumstances
01:32where you would gamble this way.
01:34I mean, 180 days, and you're right,
01:35you're gonna serve 90 of that if at worst,
01:38versus a couple decades behind bars
01:42is a likely sentence for him, or at least a decade.
01:45It's a huge gamble.
01:46Joe Takapina, though, is one of the best,
01:48and he's been around forever,
01:49and if anybody can get him off, I guess Joe can.
