00:00Okay, so I'm Olivia, I'm the co-founder of Baby Chinos, the play cafe that's opening in Waterlooville.
00:06Is this the first time you've had the sort of venture of a play cafe?
00:09Yes, it is the first time, yes. So it's all very new to us, but we've been working on it for the last year, so we're very looking forward to opening.
00:17So what kind of gave you the idea for it?
00:19I mean, we are two mums, our kids are slightly older now, but we realised that growing, like raising our children in the area,
00:26there was not really anything for us to do with them local, we'd have to go really far away, or we'd be dragging them to Costa for a coffee in any sort of shop that we could.
00:36What we were really thinking about is there needs to be somewhere where it's enjoyable for the kids and the mums,
00:42we can go and get a good coffee, enjoy ourselves, have a catch up without the stress and anxiety of running around after our kids basically.
00:51Sounds good. So at the moment it's kind of a blank canvas in there, so what is your vision for the place, what it's going to be like?
00:58Yes, so we are currently building our soft play structure, so it will be a hybrid structure, it will be a mix of timber and soft play.
01:09The colours are very pastel, very aesthetically pleasing, we're focusing on being able to see your children from where you're sat as well,
01:17that's something that's really important to us as mums, we know how hard it is when you are trying to make sure you've got your eye on them,
01:24but equally you're trying to catch up with your friends. We're going to have a really lovely cafe there as well, so there'll be a nice big bar.
01:32Potentially the idea of being able to do private parties, not just for kids, but for older people as well,
01:40so if you do have lots of family and you are looking for a venue to host your party, whether it's your 30th, your 50th, your 60th, that's something that we'd be looking to do as well.
01:49So in terms of the cafe side of it, what kind of food and drinks will be served?
01:55So we are going to do locally sourced food, we're hoping to do fresh food, we're hoping to do healthy food as well,
02:03it will be a mix, so we're looking at things like toasties, paninis, salads, we're hoping to do pizzas as well, children's lunch boxes and really good coffee, so all the alternative milks.
02:17Obviously it's quite a big unit, so is the plan for it to be quite open?
02:23Yes, completely open, nothing is going to be shut away, we're going to have an under 1 area in the corner as well, so it's nice and safe to keep your little ones that are crawling around away from the main structure.
02:35That's another thing that we've realised as well, having your little ones crawling around when the 5 year olds are jumping in and out of phone pits can be a bit worrying,
02:43so we're going to have a nice section just for the under 1's and then we'll obviously have the larger area on the right hand side and that will be for the under 6 year olds.
02:54And what's your open date?
02:58We don't have a finalised date yet, but it will be early spring.
03:04Is there anything else you wanted to add at all?
03:07No, we just look forward to welcoming the local mums, local dads and we look forward to having everyone down.
