00:00After more than a year of continuous negotiations,

00:03the 17 Kutio Rebels' marines will be able to return to the Philippines.

00:09The crew members will be remembered in November 2023

00:14as they sailed from the Red Sea to India.

00:17President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is extremely grateful

00:21for all the help to save the Philippine seafarers from returning to their families.

00:28This is Kenneth Paciente's report.

00:34After more than a year,

00:36the 17 Philippine seafarers are now free

00:39after being rescued by the Kutio Rebels in November 2023.

00:43President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. himself announced this development.

00:48He is currently in charge of the Philippine Embassy in Muscat, Oman

00:52for the Philippine seafarers

00:54and is determined to return to the Philippines

00:56to be with their families in the near future.

00:59The Executive Board of the Oman government and its sultan

01:04are also grateful for their efforts that resulted in the release of the Philippine seafarers.

01:09At the same time, the Chief Executive of the concerned Philippine government agencies

01:14and private sectors

01:15who did not hesitate to seek and strive to help foreign government entities

01:20to free the abducted Philippine seafarers.

01:23In November 2023, the Huthi hijacked the Galaxy Leader ship

01:28while it was on its way to India

01:30where it abducted 25 crew members

01:33including 17 Filipinos.

01:35Since then, the President has strictly ordered the abduction of the Filipinos

01:40and their safety was ensured.

01:42They will also be reminded that the President canceled his visit

01:46to the Convention on Climate Change in Dubai in November 2023

01:50to address the situation.

01:51Again, the Chief Executive of the Oman government agencies

01:54gave the freed seafarers an example

01:57and that is why the Magna Carta of Filipino Seafarers was legislated.

02:00It is for their well-being and for them to be assured

02:03that they will be able to contribute their rights in various aspects

02:06such as equal opportunities, education

02:09as well as training and development in accordance with international standards.
