00:00So let's start there because yesterday when we were here on the show, we talked about Liam Cohen,
00:05if you don't know who he is, you're not alone. Offensive coordinator for the Tambay Buccaneers,
00:09re-upping with the Bucs and not going to Jacksonville. A short time later, we found out
00:14that the owner of the Jaguar, Shad Khan, fired the Jaguar's general manager. His name is Trent
00:19Balke. He is out. Don't know if the two things are correlated. A lot of people are speculating
00:24they are. Balke certainly has had a lot of success in drafting, but not a lot of success
00:30with wins and losses. So the Jaguars are now searching for another general manager and a
00:36head coach. And this is, of course, ahead of the NFL draft coming up in April. Meanwhile,
00:40the New York Jets have hired their next head coach and Jets fans will be familiar with him.
00:45Defensive back Aaron Glenn is headed home. He's going to be the head coach of the Jets. He leaves
00:50after a stellar run with the Detroit Lions. And so another coaching vacancy has been filled.
00:57Glenn did a fantastic job with the Lions defense over the years. Although you probably would say
01:01that injuries really derailed them at the end of the year. Glenn, a defensive specialist,
01:04although he says he's a coach regardless. The Las Vegas Raiders have a new GM also.
01:09And there is some correlation here to one of their limited partners in Tom Brady. His name is John
01:14Spytek, not Spygate. Spytek. He is their new general manager. Has that joke been made yet?
01:20Hopefully I'm not the first one. He was with Tom Brady back at Michigan in 1999 and also was with
01:26the Tampa Bay Buccaneers staff a few years ago. And so he will be tasked with hiring the next
01:31head coach of the Raiders and also finding a quarterback for the Raiders. I've had a hard time
01:34doing that as well. Last night, Jimmy Butler did not attend a flight when they went on the road.
01:42There are several reports saying that they had a different practice schedule. Maybe this is why
01:46this has happened. Who really even knows the story right now? But here's what we know. No
01:50Jimmy Butler for the Miami Heat for their next two road games. He was suspended again
01:55on this next two-game road trip. The Heat has been trying to trade Butler and they have a
02:00deadline coming up in February where they're going to have to make this happen. We know the Suns have
02:04been in play trying to acquire draft picks to make this happen as well. But Jimmy Butler,
02:09two more games of not being on the court with Miami. Hal Golden, former head coach in college
02:15football at the University of Miami, is returning to the Bengals as defensive coordinator. He was
02:20linebackers coach with them back in 2020 and 2021. Not 1920, that'd be a hundred years ago,
02:28that'd be too long. Joe Mixon of the Houston Texans had a fine reissued this time for making
02:33comments about the referees. He went to social media to say how much BS it was and doesn't seem
02:40to really have any filter when it comes to this. But needless to say, Mixon's not even playing and
02:44getting fined for the referees based on last week. Titans general manager, Mike Borgonzi,
02:50says all options are on the table. The Titans have the number one overall pick in the draft.
02:55He met with the media yesterday and certainly with several months to go before it all happens,
03:00he's not going to tip his hand as to who they like. It's early, we just started. You know,
03:05the first thing we're talking about is our roster and then getting down to the Senior Bowl
03:10and the East-West actually first. So we're very early in those discussions.
03:17You mentioned that nothing, all options are on the table. I imagine same thing in your eyes.
03:23Yes, we're coming into this, I'm coming in with this an open mind,
03:27but we're going to evaluate every situation and make the best decision for us with that pick.
03:33We're in the NBA last night, a battle of two potential finalists in the East and West.
03:38Houston's a little bit of a long shot, but man, they have looked fantastic. They beat the Cavs
03:42109 to 108. Aimee Udoka has done such a great job since heading over to Houston. Of course,
03:47he was let go by Boston for some indiscretions, as they say, several years ago. Udoka, not all
03:53that excited, by the way. I know they had a lead in this one and certainly Cleveland came back.
03:57He talked about the outcome after the game. I think we were not aggressive enough in the zone.
04:05We got in the middle a few times and had opportunities to look to score and got in
04:09the dunk or kick out. So wide open to miss those. And it kind of bogged us down a little bit.
04:14Obviously, you know, 39.1st quarter, 33.3rd quarter. They went to zone to slow it down and
04:21we needed to get stops to get out and run a little bit and didn't really convert in transition. So
04:26allowed them to sit in the zone a little bit, but got some decent looks. Obviously, Fred
04:31hit the two big threes. Chandler got some really good looks out of there as well. So you make those
04:35a little bit different. Maybe they don't stand as much, but credit to them. We weren't great
04:40against it and let them back in the game. How important was your bench tonight?
04:46Big. It was like, it felt like right from the beginning, they came in and gave us some extra
04:50juice. Love the physicality. You know, Tari Cam, Steven came in with where we were a little flat
04:56early, you know, and kind of ramped it up, obviously, to get that 39.1st quarter. But
05:01overall, really good job by all of them. Jay Sean as well, guarding. And yeah, we needed it tonight.
05:07Some guys were a little flat and the bench gave us a good boost. Meanwhile, the story of the first
05:12half of the NBA season has obviously been the Oklahoma City Thunder and they continue to roll.
05:17Another win yesterday, 36-7 on the season. And the favorite on the FanDuel Sportsbook to win
05:24the MVP, it's clear-cut. It's Shea Gilgis Alexander. Another 54-point performance last
05:30night, 123-114. Not going to hand him the MVP just yet. There's a long way to go, certainly,
05:37but SGA trying to live in the present as opposed to the future. Yeah, I just try to stay in the
05:43moment. I try to be as aggressive and as intelligent as I can be in every moment.
05:54Make the right play and make the play that I'm comfortable making. And no matter the moment or
06:00the situation, I try not to waver from that. And it's been going well for me. It's something that
06:08I had to learn, I guess you could say, the hard way. But yeah, taking that approach has really
06:14helped me, for sure. Did it feel like 54? It did not. I felt like I could have had a lot more and
06:21I know it's going to sound very spoiled, but I feel like I didn't really have that great of a
06:26night. Left a few on the table, but there's room to improve and that's a good thing.
06:31Shea, you told Gallo after the game that you had a few more points tonight,
06:36but nothing special. Yeah. Why do you say that? Why is it nothing special?
06:42Like, I feel like I wasn't my best tonight, like regardless of what the scoreboard says.
06:46I feel like I could have been better. Offensively, shot making a little bit,
06:52and then a couple of reads. But that comes with the game. You're not going to be perfect all the
06:58time. I feel like I've had better games this season, even though it didn't look like it on
07:02the score sheet. That's just me chasing growth as opposed to an outcome. That's what that comes from.
07:13Right now, minus 600 on the FanDuel Sportsbook is SGA to win the MVP. That's a big favorite for
07:19the month of January. Also, last night, Brown and Tatum, they went off. They led the Celtics
07:25past the Clippers, 117 to 113. Jalen had 25, Jason had 24. And also in the Mavs and Wolves game,
07:33Jaden Daniels had 27 points and the Wolves outlasted the Mavs by a point, 115 to 114.
07:41The storm is coming, as they say. St. John's wins again last night. This time,
07:46they beat Xavier, final 79 to 71. Expect St. John's to be a top 15 team in the country,
07:53headed toward next week. Fans are starting to show up. And of course,
07:57the head man Rick Pitino knows all about success in the Big Apple.
08:00It's all about winning in New York. If you win, people will show up. And we know that.
08:06And we're winning right now. We're bringing St. John's back to where it needs to be.
08:12It's a shame Lou's not alive. He'd be very proud of his team the way they fight.
08:18But we really, really want to get St. John's back where it belongs.
08:24And we just keep winning and winning, and that'll take care of itself.
08:28A couple of notes in college basketball last night. The Gators beat South Carolina,
08:3270 to 69. Texas A&M beats Ole Miss, 63 to 62. Kansas beats TCU, 74 to 61.
